According to the project of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the experiment is supposed to be carried out from May 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023. The list of goods subject to labeling included not only canned vegetables and meat, but also jams, jellies, and nut butters. The project was developed on behalf of the president, the department told the newspaper. It is assumed that during the experiment, its participants will get acquainted with the principles of work in the information system and select the best solutions for themselves.

Rusbrand believes that due to the increase in the cost of packaging, shipping and the total cost of goods, the cost of baby food may increase by 10%. The Ministry of Industry and Trade says that it will be possible to objectively assess the amount of costs for the introduction of marking only during the experiment, and support measures have been developed for the companies participating in the project. The Ministry of Agriculture told Izvestia that last year the price dynamics in the baby food sector was stable.

In its letter, the association noted that baby food is one of the socially important essential goods. At the same time, the segment has the highest level of imports (25–30%), while more expensive solutions are offered for foreign products. This can lead to a shortage of goods, manufacturers say.

"Rusbrand" in the letter indicates that it is not aware of cases when regulators in the industry recorded counterfeit products, so the need for labeling is doubtful. The association explains that the production, distribution and sale of baby food is tightly controlled by the state, and more stringent requirements are imposed on these products. Manufacturers believe that additional restrictions, on the contrary, may reduce the quality of baby food: additional manipulations with the packaging may lead to violations of the rules of transportation and storage.

The operator of the labeling system CRPT stated that the labeling "does not have a noticeable effect on the price of products for consumers and leads to a reduction in the shadow turnover.
