National Baby Food Festival - Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, MI
Annually held the third full week of July. Family fun and a celebration of children are the key components in our one-of-a-kind National Baby Food Festival (NBFF). The city of more than 4,000 is transformed for one week in July into the Family Fun Capital showcasing Fremont as a great place to LIVE, WORK, & PLAY! The Festival has been made possible through the generous support of sponsors such as Nestle Nutrition/Gerber Products Company, Gerber Life Insurance, and many more! Well over 100 Newaygo County volunteer share their time and talents to ensure the National Baby Food Festival has a wide variety of well run activities for families to enjoy.
What would a Baby Food Festival be without those baby-oriented activities? Even for those without infants, the Baby Crawl is a very entertaining event.
The Festival kicks off on Wednesday with a 4-H Children’s Petting Zoo and Kid’s Expo. The Kid’s Zone is open every day; Wednesday through Saturday, where children of all ages can participate in activities such as arts and crafts, games, and so much more! The National Baby Food Festival is proud of the annual Special Kids Day event. This event is designed to provide festival access to kids with special needs who are 18 years of age or younger who may not otherwise be able to attend.
Do you remember the days of feeding the baby, when it seemed more food wound up on the baby’s face, chair, and the floor, than in the baby’s mouth? The NBFF reminds us of those days with a Baby Food Eating Contest. Participants work in pairs trying to feed a jar of baby food to their partner – while blindfolded!
Other festival activities include a wide variety of contests, musicians, clowns, and more. Children’s activities include frog jumping, turtle racing, bean bag toss, water balloon toss, and much more. Our Carnival, TJ Schmidt Carnival, runs Wednesday through Saturday, with many Pay-One-Price opportunities.
Everyone loves a parade, and we have two - a Children’s Parade and our signature Grand Parade, with over 100 entries. The legendary Car Show will be held on Saturday of festival! Owners of antique cars, muscle cars, trucks, Rat Rods, motorcycles, and more showcase their rides right down Main Street. Check in for the car show at the corner of Main Street and Stewart.. A team of judges will be selecting award winners for a variety of classes. Make sure to stop by the Kids play area, and enjoy food from area vendors. This event will be held on Saturday immediately following the parade and concluding at 4 pm. The theme for the Grand Parade is "Celebrating Family".
On the festival’s Main Stage, at the Veterans Memorial Park amphitheater will feature free entertainment all week long Thursday night’s hypnotist show and Movie in the Park, Friday - Current Country and Saturdays Music; the Adams Family followed by Lookin Back: A Bob Seger tribute. On December 15, a family action "Feed the birds in winter!" took place. Feeding troughs were hung around the territory of the kindergarten and in the Family Square in the Leninsky District. A bit of childish imagination, the ability to negotiate, work in a team, and the guys got such an image of "Autumn")))) How much positive and joy is in "Autumn"! Now "Autumn" every day meets the children of the preparatory group "Kapitoshka" and gives a good mood!
- All week from September 21 to September 25, pupils of the preparatory group "Kapitoshka" were preparing for the Day of the preschool worker: the guys drew, sculpted crafts - future gifts for kindergarten workers, went on a tour of the kindergarten - got acquainted with the storekeeper, the cook and the head teacher)))
- Employees of a preschool institution shared with the children life facts about their work)
- On May 15, 2019, a friendly concert "On the Wings of a Dream" took place together with school No. 10 for children with disabilities (visually impaired children). The concert was held in a warm friendly atmosphere, the atmosphere of creativity reigned everywhere, and the feeling of a holiday did not leave either the listeners or the children of the artists. The guys from the school showed us the fairy tale "The Wizard of the Emerald City". The performance impressed us with its sincere, real emotions, spectacular costumes and kindness, which was felt in every word. The children received the students very warmly. It was evident that the fairy tale was understandable and interesting for children. After the fairy tale, the guys sang a few songs for us. Everyone especially liked the song "Fat Carlson", everyone clapped and sang along. The children of our kindergarten, in response, also showed the schoolchildren a concert. The children were also warmly welcomed. The teachers of the school were worried that schoolchildren would not understand the kids, but the atmosphere of creativity, inspiration and joy reigned in the hall!
- All the children, of course, were worried, but they performed very well, each performance was warmly greeted with applause. It was evident that everyone was preparing and trying very hard. The young performers undoubtedly found the warmest welcome and the most appreciative audience. The children were impressed with each other and expressed a desire to meet again.
- Fairs in Rus' originated in ancient times and have become a tradition. For several years now, the fair has been held in kindergarten No. 84. In our structural unit No. 1, the fair was held for the first time. For our entire institution this day, May 15, 2019became a real holiday. What is a holiday? Of course, the holiday is a positive emotion. A family holiday is a double holiday.
- Of course, the main goal of the fair is to establish a close relationship between teachers and parents for the successful upbringing and development of children. And it was important for us adults (both educators and parents) to convey to our children that they are carriers of Russian culture, which entails many interesting, exciting and colorful activities. The fair is also a musical holiday, so before it started, the guys showed a concert that combined the best numbers, where the children were able to show everything they had learned over the year.
- As I noted, we held such a holiday for the first time and were very worried. Children of all groups took part in the fair. Long before the fair, the children, together with the teacher, got acquainted with the traditions of holding fairs in Rus': they learned songs, round dances; read nursery rhymes, fables; got acquainted with the concepts of fair, product, money, income, charity.
- Relevant preliminary work was also carried out with the parents of the children. From the very beginning, they were informed that all the proceeds from the fair would be used for the needs of the kindergarten. Our parents treated the event as a holiday, with a good mood and great enthusiasm.
- Of course, all those present at the event were engaged in useful work. Many guests came to the fair: mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, neighbors of our pupils along with their children. Each group laid out the goods on their "rows" with great love. And there were plenty of them, our "shopping stalls" were full of an abundance of crafts, toys, sweets! Our parents not only tried to ensure that the tables were “bursting” with goods, but also acted as active participants in the fair: they were both buyers and sellers.
- I would like to express my deep gratitude to all parents for their active participation in the concert and the fair. Many children showed themselves not only from an inquisitive side, but were also real needleworkers. It is impossible to describe the joy of the children and their parents when their crafts were among the first “acquisitions”.
- In general, the fair was very fun and lively, with excitement and positive emotions; interest in this event exceeded all possible expectations. Each group wanted to get as much money as possible into their “piggy bank”. We will look forward to the next holiday fair.
The staff of the kindergarten expresses THANKS to parents for their active participation in the citywide subbotnik on April 20! Thank you for the fact that despite being busy and lacking time, you are actively involved in the life of the kindergarten! Thank you for your help in decorating the territory of the kindergarten! All parents who took part in the subbotnik can now proudly say: "Our city has become cleaner, this is also my merit"!
On April 24, the team of pupils of the senior group "Smeshariki" took an active part in the regional competition in Begovelia, held at the base of MBDOU No.
