manufacturing and installation of tackle for fishing with your own hands

Caracial fishing for a traffic jam began to be practiced by lovers of bottom bringing relatively recently, but quite quickly gained recognition of fishermen . The popularity of this type of equipment is due to the simplicity of its manufacture and high efficiency.

The principle of operation of tackle

The principle of operation of the “cork” is based on attracting fish with a nutrient mixture and awakening food competition in it. Thanks to the sinker located in the lower part, when lowering to the bottom, the structure assumes a horizontal position and always lies on the ground in such a way that the bait is on top.

Hooks on short leashes are inside the groundbait or float above it (depending on the type of bait used). Approaching the smell of bait, the crucian begins to eat away the nutrient mixture from the plastic container and, together with the feed particles, draws one of the hooks into its mouth.

Feeling a metal object in its mouth, the crucian tries to spit it out, but, having pricked itself on the sting, makes a sharp jerk to the side and sits on the hook. The principle of self-securing fish allows you to use several gear at the same time, which significantly increases the effectiveness of fishing.

Under what conditions can I use

Fishing equipment "cork" works best on the following types of water bodies:

  • lakes;
  • quarries;
  • ponds;
  • reservoirs;
  • slow flowing rivers.

"Probka" proved to be excellent when fishing in the bays and oxbow lakes of large rivers, where a large concentration of crucian carp is usually observed.

The shape of the cork feeder does not allow the use of this equipment on rivers with strong currents. With a powerful pressure of the directional flow of water, the structure will turn over and move from the point, which will not allow normal fishing.

It is problematic to fish with this tackle in reservoirs, the bottom of which is covered with a thick layer of silt deposits. In such conditions, the feeder itself and the hooks will quickly sink into the soft substrate, becoming difficult for the fish to reach. On slightly silty and hard ground, the “cork” works quite well.

When to fish with it

Tackle with a bottle cap feeder is not particularly sensitive, so it is better to catch crucian on a cork during its high feeding activity:

  • late spring;
  • in summer;
  • at the beginning of autumn.

In June and July, when crucian carp actively feed at night, this type of tackle is especially effective.

In mid-spring and late autumn crucian take the bait very carefully and rarely swallow hooks. During these periods, it is better to abandon the use of "plugs" and switch to more sensitive types of equipment.

What you need to assemble the tackle

For cork fishing, the same set of tackle that is used when fishing on a classic donk is quite suitable. It includes:

  • budget spinning rod with dough 30–80 g, made of fiberglass;
  • inexpensive spinning reel size 4000;
  • monofilament line 0.3-0.35 mm in diameter.

For cork fishing, a cheap fiberglass spinning rod is well suited. Such rods are characterized by increased softness, which has a positive effect on the casting distance and reduces the risk of fish coming off during the fight.

Fiberglass rods have good strength characteristics - this allows you to cast heavy feeders without fear of breakage of the blank. The low cost of such spinning rods makes it possible to fish with two or three rods without spending a lot of money.

Since the equipment uses a rather thick monofilament line, which is not prone to tangling, the rod can be equipped with a budget “inertialess” line. However, since when casting a heavy feeder, some parts of the coil experience an increased load, it is better to refuse to use the cheapest Chinese models.

If fishing is carried out on a small body of water, where feeders up to 40 g are usually used, monofilament 0.3 mm thick is wound on the spool of the reel. When fishing with heavy containers weighing more than 50 g, a fishing line with a diameter of not less than 0. 35 mm is used.

Since the fish usually hooks itself, the bite alarm is not used in this rig. The fact that the crucian took the nozzle is evidenced by jerks of the soft tip of the spinning rod.

To make the actual cork rig, the angler will need:

  • plastic bottle cap;
  • round, flat lead weight;
  • aluminum or copper wire;
  • swivel;
  • 3 hooks #12-8 on short leaders made of braided cord or monofilament line.

If there are a lot of small fish in the pond that can quickly eat out the nutrient composition from the feeder, it is better to use a large bottle cap with a volume of 15–25 liters in the equipment. In other cases, you can use a standard lid from a one and a half liter container.

A flat, lead weight of 20–80 g is quite easy to make by casting the desired size piece in a plaster mold.

Cork is best equipped with dark hooks with a round bend and a medium length shank. Their size is selected taking into account the volume of bait used.

When fishing on ponds and lakes with clear water, the leaders are made of monofilament fishing line with a diameter of 0.15–0.2 mm. If the water is cloudy, it is better to use a “braid” with a thickness of 0.1–0.14 mm, which is soft and has high strength indicators, for the manufacture of lead elements. These pieces of rig are usually 3-6 cm long.

Do-it-yourself installation

For a beginner angler, fitting a plug may seem complicated, but it is actually quite simple to do. For this you need:

  1. Place a weight on the back of the lid.
  2. Use a drill to make two through holes at the edges (through metal and plastic).
  3. Pass the ends of the wire through the holes, bring them out on the other side and twist them after a few turns.
  4. In the direction of one of the remaining ends of the wire, melt a hole in the rim of the cover for the swivel with a soldering iron or a hot nail.
  5. On the other sides of the cork, make 3 smaller holes for the leashes in the same way.
  6. Thread the swivel onto the wire next to the bore.
  7. Bend the end of the wire.
  8. Pull the swivel through the hole in the plug and out the other side.
  9. Tie leashes with hooks to the other sides of the lid.

The main line is attached to the swivel that extends beyond the base of the cork. By varying the size of the cover and the weight of the lead weight, it is thus possible to make a rig suitable for different fishing conditions.

Banjo design features

The banjo design differs from the traditional cork by having a hollow tube installed in the center of the feeder, which allows for a more sensitive, sliding installation of equipment. To carry it out, you need:

  1. Drill a hole in the center of the load.
  2. Attach it to the plastic stopper with a self-tapping screw.
  3. With a heated awl, make 2 holes in the side rim of the lid, approx. 2 mm in diameter (one opposite the other).
  4. Insert a plastic tube about 2 mm thick into the holes, slightly longer than the diameter of the cap.
  5. Lightly melt both ends of the plastic tube with a lighter.
  6. Pass the main line through the center tube of the feeder.
  7. Thread the silicone bead onto the monofilament.
  8. Attach a small swivel.
  9. Attach a short leash with a hook to the other eye of the swivel.

Some anglers additionally install a wire spiral on the tubular banjo base, which provides a more secure hold of the bait in the container.

Nozzle

Most anglers use Styrofoam balls as bait, which they put on the curve of the hook. To increase the attractiveness of the artificial bait, it is treated with flavors and dyed in various colors. Ready-made floating bait can be bought at a fishing store.

Hard natural baits are also used in combination with the cork rig:

  • boiled barley;
  • steamed wheat kernels;
  • corn;
  • pellets;
  • mini boilies.

It is desirable that the bait mix contains the same ingredient that is put on the hook. This will make the crucian bites more confident.

Groundbait

When fishing on a “cork”, various boiled cereals usually serve as the basis for bait:

  • millet;
  • barley;
  • barley.

Gluing ingredients are added to ready-made cereals to give them extra viscosity:

  • semolina;
  • ground oatmeal;
  • breadcrumbs.

Also, the bait contains components that are used as a nozzle.

The finished bait mixture should be quite viscous. Such a consistency will ensure its reliable retention in the container during casting and will not allow small fish to eat the bait before crucian approach.

There are many recipes for carp mix for cork tackle. To prepare the most catchy bait option you will need:

  1. Pour 2 liters of clean water into a saucepan.
  2. Bring it to a boil.
  3. Pour in 500 g of millet.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring regularly.
  5. Carefully drain the water and pour the boiled millet into a large colander.
  6. Wait for the liquid to drain completely.
  7. Return the cooked grits to the pot.
  8. Add 300 g of semolina and 2 tablespoons of honey to the bowl with millet.
  9. Mix thoroughly.
  10. Add 300 g of sunflower meal and 20 g of cinnamon powder to the resulting mixture.
  11. Stir again.

This groundbait has proven itself well when fishing in warm water. The bait prepared according to this recipe is characterized by increased viscosity and will allow you to catch crucian carp in both stagnant and running water.

How to put groundbait and hooks

Groundbait is placed in a plastic container so that the bulk of the nutrient mixture is inside the lid. This method of placing the bait will not allow small fish to quickly eat the plant composition.

If foam is used as a bait, the tip of the hooks must be stuck into the viscous bait mixture before casting. This will prevent tangling of the leashes during the flight of the cork.

If the angler uses sinking natural baits, the hooks are placed in the bait as follows:

  1. The first layer of the mixture is placed on the bottom of the lid.
  2. Next, leashes with hooks are fixed.
  3. Hooks are covered with a second layer of bait.
  4. Compound is compacted.

This method of bait placement is most effective in combination with natural sinking baits, as it prevents crucian carp from noticing hooks and leads until the fish swallow the bait.

Choice of location

Since cork fishing is usually carried out in warm water, the feeder should be thrown into places with a depth of no more than three meters. When fishing on ponds and lakes, promising areas include:

  • gaps among aquatic vegetation;
  • areas along the reed wall;
  • coastal area with a slightly silted bottom.

On the rivers, the main habitats of crucian carp in the warm season are shallow bays, overgrown oxbow lakes and shallow eriki.

The fishing process

The technique of cork fishing is very simple. Even an inexperienced angler can easily master it. Arriving at the pond, you need:

  1. Mix the bait.
  2. Set rod stands at a distance of one to two meters from one another.
  3. Collect gear.
  4. Throw each rig in turn at the most promising points.
  5. Fix the distance by clipping the line onto the spool.
  6. Attach the hooks and drive the bait into each of the containers.
  7. Throw tackle one by one at the predetermined points.
  8. Place the rods on the stands.
  9. Pull the line on each of the tackles so that the tips of the spinning rods are slightly bent.
