2.6. Children's utensils.
Children's tableware, the same as adults: cups (drinkers, non-spill cups, just children's mugs), plates, spoons, forks, knives. Plus, I would also add a bib here, although this is of course not dishes, but also an essential accessory for eating.
Cups . Three stages can be distinguished: a drinking cup with a nipple, a non-spill drinking cup, a children's cup. You can buy each separately, but there are models on the market that cover all three stages. What I would advise you to pay attention to when choosing a drinker: first and foremost, the child should be comfortable holding it. Therefore, I vote for sippy cups with comfortable handles. Secondly, it should be convenient to assemble and disassemble it for mom, it should not flow and warp.
Unfortunately, most models are sold packaged and you won't be able to twist them in the store to see how comfortable they are. The choice of drinker is very individual. Just take a look at what you like. Drinker reviews vary widely, plus your child's preferences may change over time.
Plate . Children's plates are always made of plastic, as are drinking bowls. she will fly from the table to the floor more than once. When choosing a plate, make sure it is strong enough to withstand your little one's pressure. Cymbals are now often sold with a suction cup on the bottom. Unfortunately, I have not heard of a single plate that this suction cup actually kept the plate on the table. A child is often more interested in plates that have some kind of pattern on the bottom. Personally, I would not buy plates of acidic and, so to speak, not appetizing colors yet.
Children's cutlery. A child's first cutlery is likely to be plastic, all for the same reason that it will often end up on the floor and be bitten by the child.
At first, you will feed the baby yourself. You can do this with any spoon. However, now they offer such slightly curved spoons, which are more convenient to feed the baby. My nanny, for example, really appreciated this spoon.
Then the baby will begin to take the spoon in his own hand. I came to the conclusion that for the first spoon it is important that it be deep and of course comfortable for the child.
Finally, your 1 year old or so will reach the fork. I purchased the metal one. Daniel liked it. The main thing here is that it is not sharp and safe (the plastic handle is firmly attached to the metal part), but you can simply buy a plastic fork, but it seems to me that they somehow bend and it is more difficult to string a piece of meat with them.
The packaging often indicates for which purposes and for what age of children certain cutlery models are suitable. Carefully read the packaging before buying a product, otherwise you risk simply not understanding why this crooked spoon is needed.
There is another thing that attracts the attention of modern mothers - this is nibbler . Now it is produced by several companies at once, but in fact they are absolutely the same. Should I buy a Nibbler? The question is not as simple as it seems. It seems to me that there are still not enough comments from pediatricians and dentists on this topic. I bought it, but didn't really give it to Daniil. On the one hand, he teaches the child to chew and excludes the possibility of getting large pieces to the child, with which he can choke. On the other hand, try to chew something in it yourself - it seemed to me extremely unpleasant. If you purchased it, do not be lazy to rinse and rinse the nets well. It is better to put only one type of product in one net. For example, vegetables in one mesh, fruits in another. The particles will still remain on the mesh, it will be painted over. Nets for reasons of hygiene should be changed often.
Bibs and aprons.
I didn't know where to put this accessory in my clothes or here. I decided that it relates more to nutrition.
Bibs are divided into two sleeping categories: fabric and non-fabric. Ordinary rag bibs are the cheapest, most familiar and most impractical. They constantly get dirty, they need to be washed, they absorb liquid and then it remains on the child’s clothes, etc. Non-fabric bibs range from simply rigid plastic to very similar to fabric, but with synthetic fibers, water-repellent and non-absorbent. Bibs are simple and with a feeder.
My advice when choosing between drawstrings and velcro, choose velcro (less dirty, more comfortable, choose an apron with a feeder, a flexible or semi-flexible apron is better.
