Homemade baby food pouch recipes

Best Baby Food Pouches (Easy Homemade Ideas)

Learn how to make homemade Baby Food Pouches, no muss, no fuss, with these 15 easy recipe ideas. These are a great way to save money, share lots of flavors with babies and toddlers, and have convenient foods ready to go!

Baby Food Pouches

I always made my own baby food pouches because I like how affordable they are and how once you have a set of reusable pouches, there are so many options! Plus, you can feed many things you’re making for the rest of the family in a pouch, which means you can share flavors with the little ones even if they aren’t quite up to finger foods yet.

I view baby food pouches as one component of feeding a baby and like to mix purees with baby led weaning as a way to expose baby to a wide variety of flavors and textures from an early age.

I also find them very convenient for offering smoothies well into the toddler years!

Ingredients in You Need

What you need for your pouch adventure will depend on what you want to feed your baby! Basically you need something pureed (or a food like yogurt or applesauce that has a very pouch-friendly texture already) and a reusable pouch.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here’s the general gist of how to make a baby food pouch. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for recipe ideas and best tips!

  1. Choose your puree and prepare it. Let it cool as needed. (Or pull out the yogurt or applesauce.)
  2. Fill the pouch, making sure that the cap is on if using the kind with the zipper opening on the bottom. (Otherwise it will all run right out the top!)
  3. Store in the fridge or serve to baby.

TIP: As a quick an easy snack option, I like to mix half yogurt and half applesauce right in the pouch.

What can I put into a baby food pouch?

You just need the food to be smooth enough that it easily passes through the opening of the pouch, so anything that’s pureed or the consistency of pureed soup or yogurt will work. Generally speaking you can do:

  • Applesauce
  • Fruit purees
  • Vegetable purees
  • Baby food combinations
  • Pureed meats
  • Pureed soups
  • Smoothies
  • Yogurt

TIP: You can also use any of my go-to Baby Food Combinations too!

Flavor Ideas for Baby Food Pouches

These are some of my favorite recipe ideas to add to a pouch.

  1. Applesauce
  2. Apple Flax Yogurt: Equal parts Apple Puree and plain yogurt, plus a sprinkle of ground flax.
  3. Baby Oatmeal with Applesauce mixed in for flavor.
  4. Banana Yogurt
  5. Pear Coconut Puree: Pear Puree with full-fat coconut milk mixed in.
  6. Pear Yogurt: Equal parts Pear Puree and plain yogurt.
  7. Red Lentil Coconut Soup
  8. Sweet Potato Tomato Soup
  9. Mango Smoothie
  10. Mashed Butternut Squash
  11. Mashed Roasted Sweet Potato
  12. Spinach-Pea Puree (alone or with Applesauce)
  13. Simple Green Smoothie
  14. Strawberry Smoothie
  15. Veggie Chili, pureed smooth

TIP: For the foods, like soup, that you’d usually serve warm, you can serve them warm in a pouch too. Just be sure they are warm and not hot. Test on your wrist like you would a baby bottle.

How long can I store baby food pouches?

I recommend making them 24 hours ahead or less so they are as fresh as possible. But you can make batches of purees and stash them in the freezer, so the pouch assembly part is quick and easy.

Do I need a baby food pouch maker?

Honestly? No. I tried one and didn’t like it because it took up space in my cabinets and the pouches themselves weren’t reusable, which seemed like a waste and a lot of money. Using reusable pouches is easy and more affordable.

What are the best reusable pouches?

I prefer the silicone Squeasy Gear pouch, which comes in a few sizes (I start with the 3.5 ounce size for babies). It’s easy to learn from as early as 6 or 7 months and the kids can use them for smoothies and applesauce well through toddlerhood as they are very durable. You may want to remove the lid when serving to kids so they don’t play with it.

I also like this set of 3.4 ounce Weesprouts reusable pouches a lot, which are a nice size for babies (there is a larger size too!) and they are easy to clean and use.

Favorite Store-bought Baby Food

There are so many great store bought options! I like the Amara Organic Baby Food (paid affiliate link), which locks in the nutrients, texture, and taste of fresh foods. You just add breastmilk, formula, or water— and the flavors are delicious with straight forward ingredients.

I also like Happy Family Organics Clearly Crafted and Plum Organics. Those are just a few options—there is a lot to choose from as you well know from the baby food aisle!

TIP: I recommend serving pouches occasionally along with regular solids from a spoon and baby led weaning style so baby has a chance to learn how to suck, swallow, move all sorts of textures around in their mouths, and gain the skills needed to be ready for finger foods around 9 months.

How to Store

Store pre-made pouches in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store leftover pouches in the fridge for up to 24 hours and serve again. You can also freeze pouches for up to 6 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight or at room temperature.

Best Tips for Success

  • If using a pouch with a zipper bottom, like this one from Wee Sprout, avoid overfilling to prevent difficulty sealing the pouch.
  • Be sure the mixture is totally smooth to avoid it becoming stuck in the opening of the pouch.
  • Add ½ teaspoon hemp seeds to any mixture for extra healthy fats.
  • Add 2 tablespoons full fat coconut cream or plain yogurt to the mashed sweet potato or squash for healthy fats.
  • Try any other Baby Food Combination or my No-Cook Baby Foods in a pouch.
  • Serve foods you’d usually serve warm (like soups) just warm, not hot. Test on your wrist to be sure the temperature is not hot.
  • Omit any added salt or sweeteners as needed.
  • Combine pouches with baby led weaning foods for a wide range of texture exposure.

Homemade baby food pouches {how-to and 5 recipes}

Portable, squeezable and with lots of flavor options, homemade baby food pouches are easy to make and a great way to serve healthy fruits, vegetables and whole grains to your little ones!

I made ALL of the baby food for both of my little ones. Which was no small feat because they were very hearty eaters. A good thing, but whew, kept me busy in the kitchen!

I always made big batches of purees, to knock out a bunch at a time, and inevitably, I’d be left with extras when they were moving onto finger foods and self-feeding.

So I started turning those purees into homemade baby food pouches.

(I also have tons of other ideas of ways to use leftover baby food – I didn’t want to waste a bit!)

You can of course buy squeeze pouches in the store.

They have lots of different kinds of applesauce mixes, yogurt squeezies, and fruit and veggie combinations.

But you can make your own so quickly, easily and for much less money. Plus, you can customize them to your little one’s liking and feel good that you’re controlling the ingredients.

My kids are older now – M is 5 next week (yikes!) and J is coming up on 3 – but they still love these squeezies. M says she has lots of friends who bring them for lunch, so she’s always asking for me to send them to school.

And I’m happy to.

I love that it’s an easy way to ensure they are eating their veggies. They will take down one of these pouches in a matter of minutes but they don’t always dig into a big bowl of peas or a plate full of broccoli. #yet #Iwontgiveup

So today I’m giving you the run-down on what I use, how it works and five easy homemade squeezie combinations to get you started. (Check out these 5 additional homemade baby food pouches for more ideas!)

Equipment for baby food pouches

I have the Infantino Squeeze Station and it’s been great. It’s the only specific baby food equipment I’ve bought and was definitely worth it.

You’ll also need to buy refill pouches (they come in batches of 50 and you will go through them!)

They have other accessories, but I’ve stuck to these basics so far.

You’ll also need an immersion/hand blender or regular blender to make the purees to put into the squeeze pouches.

How to make baby food squeeze pouches

You set up the squeeze station by inserting three pouches into the bottom (they fit through some grooves and sort of snap in.) Then you put the empty containers on top and screw them onto the bags.

Note: Be sure to write the contents and date on your bags before you start to fill them. Much easier than after they’re done.

Next, you spoon your puree mix into each container, filling it almost to the top. You use the press tool and push the puree down into the pouch. It’s a weirdly gratifying feeling.

If the mixture gets stuck or won’t push, you probably have a small chunk in your puree that got caught in the hole. Just unscrew your tube, dump the contents back into your blender and reblend (or pick out the offending piece if you see it).

After the bags are filled, unscrew the tubes and carefully pull the bags out. Twist on the orange top and voila!

You can keep them in the fridge for a couple of days or pop them straight into the freezer to have on hand later.

It’s really easy and actually, really fun!

Notes about baby food pouch combinations:

  • Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice to all of these to help preserve them. The only exception is the pineapple-broccoli mixture. The citrus from the pineapple is enough on its own.
  • You can keep the peels on the pears and apples, just be sure to puree them very well so pieces don’t get stuck and prevent the mixture from going into the squeezie bags.
  • The vegetables and grains need to be cooked and soft, so plan ahead. Or use leftovers. These can be a great way to use up scraps and reduce food waste.
  • If any of your mixtures seem too thick (because the water content of fruits and veggies can vary), just add a bit of applesauce or a splash of water to the blender until its thin enough.
  • Each pouch holds about 4 ounces. Most of these batches for me make about 3 squeezies worth. You can of course always double up if you want to knock out a bunch. They freeze great, so you might as well!

Check out the recipes below and get to making some baby food pouches. I hope your little one enjoys!

(And let me know if you want to see another round-up like this – we have lots of other flavor combinations we’ve made over the years that I can share!)

Kathryn

Prep Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

For the apple-brown rice-spinach pouches:

  • 1 apple, core removed and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1 cup packed fresh spinach leaves (raw)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

For the pineapple-broccoli pouches:

  • 1 cup cut pineapple (thawed if frozen)
  • 2/3 cup cooked broccoli florets

For the mango-sweet potato-quinoa pouches:

  • 1 ripe mango, peeled, seed removed and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked sweet potato
  • 1/2 cup cooked quinoa
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

For the banana-barley-zucchini pouches:

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup cooked barley
  • 1/2 cooked chopped zucchini
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

For the pear-peas-spinach pouches:

  • 1 ripe pear
  • 1/2 cup cooked peas
  • 1 cup raw spinach
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  1. Make sure all of your grains and veggies are cooked, if indicated.
  2. Combine all ingredients for each pouch combination in a blender or immersion blender and blend until it’s a smooth, pourable consistency. (See notes.)
  3. Label your bags, set up your station and add the mixture to the squeeze station containers, filled to the indicated line. Push down with the press tool and fill each bag. Remove the bags from the station and twist on the tops.
  4. Store pouches in the refrigerator for 2-3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. To defrost, simply move the pouch to the refrigerator - it thaws in less than a day.

Notes

Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice to all of these to help preserve them. The only exception is the pineapple-broccoli mixture. The citrus from the pineapple is enough on its own.

You can keep the peels on the pears and apples, just be sure to puree them very well so pieces don’t get stuck and prevent the mixture from going into the squeezie bags.

The vegetables and grains need to be cooked and soft, so plan ahead. Or use leftovers. These can be a great way to use up scraps and reduce food waste.

If any of your mixtures seem too thick (because the water content of fruits and veggies can vary), just add a bit of applesauce or a splash of water to the blender until it's thin enough.

Each pouch holds about 4 ounces. Most of these batches for me make about 3 squeezies worth. You can of course always double up if you want to knock out a bunch. They freeze great, so you might as well!

Dishes from dry baby food bellakt. Recipes with baby milk formula

Milk formula is almost a complete analogue of cow's milk. Moreover, it additionally has many more useful components. Therefore, if there are stocks of formula milk left in the house, use them for cooking.

Desserts, sweets or pastries are mainly prepared from infant formula. It is an analogue of milk, only more useful and tasty. The simplest thing that can be quickly and easily prepared from infant formula is pancakes. They turn out delicious, in no way inferior to pancakes in your usual milk. You can make them according to the usual recipe, but instead of milk, you add a diluted milk mixture to the dough according to all the rules. Such a product will be additionally enriched with vitamins, proper fats and protein, microelements.

What else can you make with infant formula? The variety of dishes can only be limited by your imagination. Many housewives have adopted such dishes and desserts as:

  • milk curd jelly
  • homemade condensed milk
  • cakes
  • light cakes and pies
  • candy
  • milk mastic
  • rolls
  • cookies
  • buns.

What can a baby do with formula? Milk formula for grown-up babies is added to cooked complementary foods. Due to the mixture, the product acquires a more familiar taste for the child. On the milk mixture, you can cook cereals, add them to meat or vegetable puree.

If you're wondering what to make with leftover infant formula in your kitchen, here are a few simple recipes you can try.

Infant Formula Recipes

If you're looking to make something new and have unused formula on hand, these easy formula formulas can help.

Baby food roll

For example, you can make a roll for tea. To prepare it you need:

  • 6 table spoon mixture
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 table. spoons of flour
  • 4-5 tablespoons of sugar
  • Baking powder sachet

All components must be mixed to a thin, flowing dough. Lubricate the baking paper with butter, put it on a baking sheet, pour the contents in a thin layer. We put a baking sheet in a preheated oven, bake the composition for about 5-10 minutes. Spread jam or jam on top of the roll, roll it up and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

How to make cottage cheese jelly with baby formula

Another dessert option is cottage cheese jelly. For it you will need:

  • 9% cottage cheese - 100g
  • Milk formula - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Instant gelatin - 1 tablespoon.

Prepare milk formula in the usual way, you need 200 ml of the finished product. Add sugar to the finished mixture, mix thoroughly, heat the mixture to 40-45 degrees, dissolve the gelatin in it. Place the mixture in the refrigerator to cool slightly. Take the cottage cheese from the refrigerator, mix the mixture with gelatin and cottage cheese with a mixer, spread it into molds and cool in the refrigerator until completely solidified.

Homemade cake with milk formula

If you like cake, you can make it with milk formula. For homemade cake you need:

To prepare the dough:

  • A glass of infant formula
  • 200 g sugar
  • A glass of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Pack of baking powder

For cream:

  • Half cup of infant formula
  • Half a glass of sour cream
  • 100 g sugar

This cake is easy to make. Start by preparing the dough - you need to beat the eggs with sugar with a mixer, gradually adding flour, baby formula and baking powder to the mixture. From this mixture you need to knead a thick dough. The resulting mass is placed in a deep baking dish, placed in an oven heated to 180 - 200 degrees. Bake the base of the cake until golden brown.

Baby formula biscuits are a great treat that you can easily make at home. Such a product will be appreciated by any member of the family for its excellent taste. In addition, baking comes out very useful, since the mixture itself contains more vitamins and minerals than regular milk. So if there is a little baby formula left at home, then milk can be replaced with it.

    Show all

    Baby food biscuits

Children's instant porridge makes delicious cookies. Making this dish is very easy. You need about 200 g of this mixture. You will also need 100 g of butter, 1 glass of water and the same amount of sugar. Flour should be prepared in advance half a cup. Additionally, 1 chicken egg and a little soda (half a small spoon) are required, which will need to be paid off.

Makes an unexpectedly tasty treat from a common instant product. The cookies come out soft and flavorful. By the way, it must be borne in mind that the taste of the product will be different if you use different baby formulas for baking.

First mix the sugar and the egg and then beat them. Now you need to wait 10 minutes for the sugar to dissolve. Then you should prepare all the other ingredients for the dough and pour them into a large bowl. At first it seems that there is a lack of moisture in the dough, but then the mixture is saturated with water. You just need to keep stirring the mass.

Now you need to leave the resulting dough for 20-30 minutes so that it begins to swell. Only then add more flour and knead again. The dough will turn out very tender, and even a beginner can work with it. It doesn't stick to fingers. It is allowed to add a little vanilla for a pleasant aroma. Now it remains to roll out a piece of dough and cut out various figures from it using special molds. The child will like it very much. If they are not at hand, then you can get by with balls. You just need to pinch off small pieces from the total mass and roll them into small balls. More figurines can be made with your own hands or cut with a knife.

Then you need to grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and put pieces of dough on it. The distance between the figures should be small, since the dough itself will not rise much in the oven, but will only brown. When the cookies are ready, it remains only to sprinkle with powdered sugar and treat the whole family.

    Other recipes

Cooking with infant formula is very easy. You can use other recipes. Usually it takes a little time for the whole process, but the resulting sweets will be no worse in taste and aroma than those that can be purchased at the store. It turns out the dough is not quite shortbread, but at the same time not biscuit - something in between, but very tasty and soft.

    • Raisin cookies.

You will need to take baby food - about 200 g. You also need 100 g of sugar, butter. Flour needs 250 g, and water 200 ml. Additionally, a pinch of soda, 1 chicken egg and 50 g of raisins are required. By the way, the latter must first be washed and held for some time in warm water so that it swells. These ingredients will be enough for 6 servings.

First you need to mix the sugar with the egg and beat until a homogeneous mass is obtained. Then melt the butter over low heat, then cool and add the egg-sugar mixture. Mix everything thoroughly. Then add water, pour baby food and mix. Do not touch the dough temporarily so that it swells a little. Then you need to add soda, after extinguishing it, and flour. Mix everything again so that there are no lumps. Lastly, add the raisins. Before you bake the dough, first you need to hold it in the freezer. Then, while sculpting the figures, it will not stick to the fingers. Then roll out into a sheet. Its thickness should be no more than 1 cm. Cut out the figures. Bake them for 20 minutes, but the temperature in the oven should not exceed 180 ° C.

    • Cookies with cocoa.

You will need 100 g of water for 300 g of baby food. It also requires 250 g of sugar, 50 g of cocoa and 200 g of butter. First you need to mix water and sugar and boil the liquid. Then add oil to it and boil again. The syrup will become thicker. Baby food should be mixed with cocoa and poured into sweet syrup in small portions. To prevent lumps from forming, stir constantly. The dough must be warm. Figures are prepared from it and baked in the oven. Top with chocolate.

    Cake and pie

If you are concerned about what can be prepared from infant formula, then not only cookies, but also other goodies are an excellent solution. Here are the most popular recipes:

    • Pie.

Ordinary infant formula can be used to make a delicious cake. You only need 2 cups of this product. One of them will go for the cream and the other for the cake itself. In addition, you need to take a glass of flour, sour cream, sugar. You also need 4 eggs and half a small spoonful of baking powder.

Mix sugar, flour, baby formula and beat the eggs. All this can be done manually, using a regular whisk, or using a mixer. The cake should be without lumps, so the dough should be thoroughly kneaded. The consistency should be medium - and not thick, and not overly liquid mass. It should be about the same as high-quality fat sour cream. Then the resulting dough must be poured into a pie mold, which is previously thoroughly greased with sunflower or butter. Now you need to put the mold in the oven, which is already heated to 200 ° C. The cake will be ready in about half an hour. After that, the product should cool down a bit and only then is it allowed to get it out of its shape and cut it. If you wish, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top or decorate everything with pieces of fruit.

    • Cake.

"Baby" mixes are perfect for making a delicious cake. For the test, you need about a glass of such a product. The same amount of flour and 200 g of sugar. In addition, you will need a bag of baking powder and a couple of eggs. But a cake without cream will not be as tasty. To prepare it, you need 0.5 cups of milk mixture and sour cream, and another 100 g of sugar.

To make a cake, you first need to mix sugar with eggs and beat thoroughly. Then add baking powder and flour to them and mix to form a thick mass. Grease a baking dish and pour the resulting dough into it. The cake will be delicious. The dough should be in the oven until it acquires a golden hue at a medium temperature.

But the cake won't work without cream. To prepare it, you need to mix baby food with sugar and sour cream and beat. The resulting cake just needs to be poured with such a thick cream, and then put in the refrigerator to harden. The cream will cool and take shape, harden.

    Pancakes and roll

Many delicious dishes can be obtained from infant formula. Pancakes are the easiest option. And there is also an interesting roll.

    • Pancakes.

The basic composition for pancakes includes 18-20 large spoons of infant formula. You will also need 0.5 g of water and 1.5 large tablespoons of any vegetable oil. In addition, you need to prepare a couple of eggs in advance and sugar and salt to taste. You will also need flour, but it will need to be added a little - as needed. Infant formula should be mixed with water. Then add sugar, some salt and eggs. Then mix thoroughly again. Then add flour, adding only a spoonful and slowly stirring. The mass should be completely homogeneous, with a consistency like sour cream.

Then it is necessary to leave it for half an hour to infuse it. After that, add a little vegetable oil, mix and start baking pancakes, preheating the pan well. It also needs to be lubricated with vegetable oil before the first pancake. Then each finished pancake is smeared with butter.

    • Roll.

Baby formula makes a delicious roll. This is also an interesting dish, but very simple to prepare. At the end, you get a soft and juicy delicacy that is perfect for tea drinking. To prepare it, you need to take a glass of ordinary milk powder. This is about 7 large spoons. The same amount of sugar is needed (but it is allowed to reduce or increase depending on taste) and flour. You will also need a few eggs (up to three) and a little soda, or instead of the usual baking powder. As a filling, jam, jam or something else to taste is used.

To prepare the roll, you need to take the composition of the children and mix it with sugar and flour. Then soda is added and eggs are driven in. All ingredients must be thoroughly mixed to form a liquid mass similar to sour cream.

Next, prepare a tracing paper or special baking paper. You can also use a standard baking sheet, but this option is no longer so convenient. The dough is poured there, after lubricating the surface with vegetable oil. After that, they are sent to the oven. It takes from 15 minutes to half an hour - it depends on the temperature. When the dough becomes soft, but not yet dense, then it should be taken out of the oven, greased with the filling and wrapped, giving the shape of a roll. Top can be decorated with cinnamon, chocolate, powdered sugar, other spices and sweets.

    Candy making

Infant formula not only produces excellent pastries, but also delicious sweets. For example, the following recipes are suitable:

    • Truffles.

Approximately 4.5 cups of infant formula is required for this. It is better to choose the product "Baby". 4 cups will be needed specifically for the sweets themselves, and another half cup is for rolling. Additionally, you need to take 50 g of coconut and butter, 4 tablespoons of cocoa, a little less than a glass of milk and 2.5 cups of sugar.

To make truffles at home, you first need to mix cocoa, milk, sugar and butter. Then put the mass on low heat and keep it until the sugar dissolves. Be sure to stir. Then cool and continue to stir so that the mixture becomes thicker and resembles dough. Now you need to knead it with your hands and give it the shape of balls. Then they should be rolled in baby formula and coconut flakes.

    • Candies with nuts.

You can make delicious sweets with a different recipe using infant formula. It is best to also take the package "Baby". In addition, you will need 150 g of walnuts and butter, and another half a cup of milk, a couple of tablespoons of cocoa and a pack of waffles. First you need to mix milk, butter and cocoa. Boil over low heat for a few minutes, then cool. Now add baby formula. Then add the walnuts, but first chop them. Stir everything. When the mass thickens, you need to knead it with your hands and form cones. Now the wafers need to be broken and chopped with a grater, and then roll sweets in them.

    As a conclusion

Infant formula recipes are numerous. You can always pick up something to taste for yourself and your baby. In addition, such pastries come out very tasty and healthy. Moreover, if the rest of the infant formula was found at home, then it can not be thrown away, but used correctly. Even such a composition for preparing food for a child is a very useful addition to dishes, especially baking, so that it can be easily used. In addition, this product is safe, as it does not contain dyes, flavors and other chemical additives. And the preparation of baking from such a mixture is very simple.

It turns out that such a necessary product for babies as milk formula can be useful in the kitchen of any housewife.

Moreover, in terms of its composition, it is one of the most useful products created by science.

Mother's milk replacer is sometimes a must, because in today's stressful life, some moms don't have enough food for their beloved baby. This is where infant formula comes to the rescue, which comes in different types (lactose-free, goat's milk, fruit, fortified, and so on) and from various brands of manufacturers that differ both in quality and in composition.

Often, this product costs a lot of money, because dad and mom do not feel sorry for anything for a newborn child.

Composition of infant formula is the concentration of nutrients, trace elements, vitamins, light fats and carbohydrates, as well as protein that does not cause allergic reactions. This product is made with special care, as it is eaten by the smallest children who are just starting their life journey.

The best baby food brands always include ingredients such as:

  • taurine – a trace element that helps break down fats;
  • calcium - simply necessary for a growing body, also preventing rickets and other possible childhood diseases;
  • vitamin D3 - helps calcium to be better absorbed, and also develops vision;
  • easily digestible fats and carbohydrates - they should be no more than 2-3%, but must be present;
  • L-carotene can also be one of the components, which also affects the breakdown of fats by the child's body and the overall development of the nervous system and brain;
  • vitamins of group B, as well as A, E, PP - the baby must receive a balanced composition of these elements for proper and full development;
  • Protein is the main ingredient in any infant formula, a non-allergic element composed of 60% whey elements and 40% casein.

If you want to get not only a tasty, but also an infinitely healthy meal for the whole family, you should approach the choice of infant formula with all responsibility, since, unfortunately, some manufacturers neglect the rules for manufacturing this product: there are often cases when This product contains undesirable food additives.

So, what are the best infant formulas ? A quality product for babies will not contain any dyes or food additives. In the composition indicated on the package, only natural ingredients should be present, including vitamins, trace elements (almost always calcium and taurine), easily digestible fats and hypoallergenic protein.

If in the list of components you saw elements with complex, incomprehensible names, then most likely the manufacturer hides unacceptable additives under them. It is also desirable that there is no palm oil in baby food, the negative impact of which has already been proven by multiple studies.

Having chosen the optimal composition of the mixture, you can safely start cooking new dishes, and they are ideal for children who are just starting to introduce complementary foods. This food may already be familiar to them (with artificial feeding) or similar in composition to mother's milk.

No matter how surprising it may sound, this product can be used to quickly and easily prepare real sweets. This culinary masterpiece will be appreciated not only by the younger members of the family, but also by adults.

Taking care of your baby's health in today's world means starting complementary foods right with whole, healthy foods prepared with love. Most mothers will immediately ask how to prepare baby food that is of high quality, easily digestible and tasty.

Canned food can sometimes seem easy to feed a baby, but when you start reading the ingredients of each tiny can (not to mention the cost of each can), it makes more sense to try your hand at making homemade baby food yourself.

When you think about how to prepare baby food, it seems so difficult. However, everything is much easier. In fact, baby food is the easiest recipe to prepare. Many mothers who hate to cook learn how to cook with healthy complementary foods for their beloved child.

Let's start with a few practical tips on what you'll need, what products to choose and what else to keep in mind to make the process as easy as possible.

Contents:

So, how to prepare baby food? Simple - choose a fruit or vegetable that needs to be introduced into complementary foods, cook until tender, make a smooth puree and voila ... a batch of baby food is ready. And now to the details, the following tips will teach you how to cook baby food in no time.

1. Buy the right tools

  1. Blender

This “devil machine” is the best assistant in the kitchen. Only a blender can bring fruits, vegetables, grains, meat and other products to the ideal consistency. During the first few months, solid foods are made smooth and tender without lumps so that the baby's digestion slowly gets used to the complex textures.

  1. Stainless saucepan

Good, regular dishes will always be washed. The first experiments burn, stick and are almost not washed off. Buy one good quality baby food pot. I have never regretted in 6 years. She washes with a brush, dishwasher, iron brush and she is still like new. We choose high-quality, stainless dishes, small up to 1 liter, with a good handle and lid. I have a lid with heat protection, I can take it with my bare hands, it is not hot, and neither is the pen.

  1. Baby food freezer tray with lid

One good plastic or flexible silicone tray will last a long time. Moreover, it is needed for the first 4-6 months; you will not need to freeze baby purees anymore. You can buy without a lid, but then you have to suffer from bags, as baby purees love to absorb odors from the freezer. During meals, portions can be diced and heated in the microwave before serving.

  1. Food thermometer

Many new mothers are advised to buy a food thermometer. I didn't buy. My wrist was an indicator, always, if I'm hot, then the child will be very hot. But for speed and convenience, a food thermometer comes in handy to make sure the food is at the right temperature for small mouths.

  1. Steamer or multicooker

A modern kitchen cannot do without these devices, because it is easier and more useful for us. In principle, a slow cooker will always help out when you need to cook porridge, and a double boiler - a lot of vegetables and fruits. These tools always help out, save the time of an eternally busy mother. I advise!!!

2. Choose Your First Foods Carefully

Choose fruits and vegetables for your first weaning foods that are rich in nutrients. Brightly colored vegetables are fresh vegetables. For the first feeding, foods such as broccoli, zucchini, zucchini, pumpkin are suitable, they are rich in vitamins, and at the same time look attractive. Fruits such as apple and pear can be introduced from about six months of age and are also very rich in vitamins, such as blueberries and peaches.

It's a good idea to talk to your doctor about which foods to introduce first and what is the best age to start complementary foods (this could be four to six months) and remember to start with one.

We offer the child the same food for four days - if any signs of allergy appear, the mother will immediately notice it.

3. Safety First

Making baby food at home is a convenient way to provide your baby with a healthy diet free of additives and preservatives.

Preparing and freezing small batches of food in advance makes the task much easier. However, do not forget to throw away any food that has been touched with a used feeding spoon, food that has already been reheated, and food that has been in the freezer for too long.
