The Kidco Electric Food Mill is a decent tool for preparing food for your baby. It's size and low price point make it ideal for parents who want a separate machine to make baby food but cannot afford to sacrifice the counter space. While it appears to be made of durable materials, we're not certain that it would hold up to heavy use.
Our Analysis and Test Results
The Kidco Electric Food Mill is a useful blender for making baby foods, but we found its size, lack of an "on/off" switch (this machine is started by pressing down on the top, and boosts the motor speed when the green button on the lid is pressed), and numerous parts cumbersome.
The Kidco is a hybrid between a blender and a food processor, which one would think would puree well, but sadly, it fell short when compared to its counterparts, the Sage Spoonfuls Puree and Blend and the BELLA Baby Rocket Blender.

Puree Quality
We awarded the puree quality a 7/10. This was because the puree produced was rarely consistently smooth throughout. We tested several different kinds of foods, including cooked rice, which did nothing to further puree; roasted carrots, which turned out fairly well with minimal chunks; and steamed brussels sprouts, which blended nicely but still larger leafs resisted the blades. We did notice that the Kidco did not have issues with pureeing soft foods, such as avocado.

Ease of Use
This unit is definitely an easy product to use, which is why we gave it a score of 8/10. Setup time is minimal out of the box. After an initial cleaning, users simply insert the blade or blending attachment, add food of choice, close the plastic lid and top with the motor. To activate, simply press the top portion of the machine onto the bottom and the blades begin to run. Should you need a boost of speed for a faster, more-fine chop, you can press the large green button on the top of the motor. We noticed the top had a tendency to get stuck between uses, which was an annoyance.
Ease of Cleaning
Cleaning the Kidco is a little more intensive than its counter parts. The motor housing can only be wiped down, it cannot be submerged in water which makes maintaining sanitation difficult.
The bowl, non-skid base, blade and blending attachment are top-rack dishwasher safe.
While we noticed food had a tendency to get caught beneath the blade shaft, we did not have the same problem with the blending attachment.

Capacity
The Kidco has a capacity of 2 cups. This falls about in the middle of the pack as far as the products we tested go. We found you cannot actually fill it with 2 cups of food (it is more of a guideline). The actual capacity is more like 1 ½ - 1 ¾ cups, depending on what you plan to cook and its consistency.
In this photo you can directly see the varying capacities of the three blenders we tested. Both the Sage food processor and Kidco feature 2 cup capacity bowls, while the BELLA has a three cup capacity.

Durability
The Kidco comes across as a fairly durable machine. The blade maintained its sharpness through our testing and the plastic held up well to blending hot foods.
We awarded the Kidco 7/10 for durability because it had a few parts that felt flimsy to us, particularly the blending attachment. This did not seem to impact the operation of the machine, but it did worry us. We did appreciate the non-skid cover for the bottom of the machine, which definitely prevented the base from jumping all over the counter while the machine was in use.
Portability
The Kidco is a small machine. It could easily fit into a diaper bag or luggage if you wanted to take it on a trip. But, because the motor and base do not lock together making standing it upright, or carrying it in one piece for that matter nearly impossible.
Best Applications
The best application for using the Kidco is if you truly desire a small, motor powered machine to mill your baby food. It is effective in producing smaller quantities of food for baby. If you have to keep the noise level down in your house this might not be the machine for you. While the Kidco is quieter than the BELLA Baby Rocket Blender, it's not nearly as quiet as the Cuisinart BFM-1000 & Bottle Warmer or the Baby Brezza Elite.
It actually startled us when we ran it initially, which probably would not have sat well with our kiddo had he been present during testing.
Value
At the price of $25.00, this machine represents a good financial value for the options it offers. It is a decent food mill that will enable you to make food for your baby but remember, you get what you pay for. We would not put harder foods in this machine, we worried the plastic would snap off mid-blend and ruin the food we had prepared.
Conclusion
While the Kidco presents a decent option for parents on a budget, we would recommend spending a little more money and investing in a different baby food maker such as the Sage Spoonfuls Immersion Blender With Food Processor Attachment that offer the same benefits and more.

I originally bought this to make my own baby food, but have used it for soooo much more.
It is very easy to use, and purees just about anything. I use it all the time for veggies that I need to chop for recipes, and it barely takes any time at all. Would highly recommend this over the more expensive food processors.

The Kidco Electric Food Mill has made making my own baby food so easy! In addition to the electric food mill, I also use a manual food mill and regular kitchen electric chopper, but the Kidco Food Mill is the best tool for really getting a good puree on tough foods, like broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, peas, and carrots. You do have to check to make sure it has gotten ALL the big pieces chopped up, but as long as you don't fill it too full with the whole food, it does a great job. When our daughter was just beginning with food, I would do fruits also, but fruits essentially turn to pulpy juice when their done in this mill.
Another bonus: it's super easy to clean. I just take it apart and throw all but the top part (which is easily wiped clean) into the dishwasher.

I used this to make baby food for my grandson for about a month. It is quite easy to clean, doesn't take up too much cupboard space for storage, and it works well. Be careful when cleaning the blades... they are very sharp and can cut you very easily. Of course, this is a good thing, because it means that it's good at cutting up food. This food mill is good at grinding up food to your desired consistency. If you want to keep food a bit thicker for older children, that is not a problem. However, if you want to make it a liquid for beginner eaters, that is not a problem either.
Adding water also helps to make the consistency more smooth. I never had a problem with chunks being left over or anything like that. The food mill is also quite fast. It doesn't take long to mix up food. The only downfall is that it's not very big, so you will probably have to make up your baby food in a few different batches.

This product is perfect for the mom looking to make her own baby food. I bought my first one for my daughter. Then for my son I bought another (the reason I bought another -and this is my only complaint- was that the piece that held the blades straight came out and at the time I didn't know what the piece was and threw it away....duh. The blades didn't stay in place resulting in the main container having its sides shredded.
..mostly my fault, I should not have ran it without the missing part.) This product is quick and efficient at making baby food smooth as needed. It is also small and easy to store and very very simple to clean. It is also small enough to pack along and take with you. I have a small hand crank grinder and I never use it because compared to the electric one...there is no comparing them. I found that I could use it to make quick large batches of baby food or could toss in a banana, milk and cereal for just one serving. I really do love this product and would buy a 3rd if needed.

This processor was nice to have around because the parts are so small to stick in the dishwasher repeatedly. My real food processor does a speedier job, and pulverizes food a bit better, but is also a monster to wash.
This one does the trick of breaking the food down for making your own baby food, but it won't get it as fine as commercial baby food (unless perhaps you run it through a sieve). However, I liked giving my baby a bit more texture since she became accustomed to table food very rapidly. I'm not sure it was for that reason, but it had to have helped. It does vibrate your arm a good bit since you have to hold down the button the whole time. Just think of it as a mini massage! :)Overall, if you are making your own large batches of baby food and want something electric, this would be a good choice. However, I've found the manual Kidco food mill worked much better (but only does a small amount of food at a time).
