Mother baby feeding chair
The best nursing chairs for comfy night feeds | Reviews
During your baby’s first months, you’re likely to spend a lot of time feeding—and we mean a lot—both in the day and at night, but with the best nursing chair it can be a little more relaxing. Purpose-designed nursing chairs should be comfortable and supportive, whether you’re breastfeeding - or bottle-feeding.
For breastfeeding, a chair should help you get in the best position for helping your baby latch on. Plus, it should minimise any discomfort or backache for you. And once the feeding years are over, a nursing chair can provide a cosy spot for bedtime stories with your child.
Do you need a nursing chair?
A nursing chair isn’t essential, and not everyone has the space for one. Many new mums carry out feeds perfectly well in a normal armchair, on the sofa, or sat up in bed, with pillows or cushions for extra support. Doing this means you’re not tied to the room the chair is in. However, plenty of new mums like having a purpose-designed nursing chair.
Consider the space you have available and think about how much you’re willing to spend on a nursing chair - you might not want to keep it long-term. You can wait to see if you need one, but the time between ordering and it being delivered can take some time if you require it immediately.
How much movement do you want?
Some nursing chairs are fixed in position, while others have adjustable backrests. A recline function will be useful, especially if you feel like resting during a feed. A choice of three or so different positions should be fine, although some chairs provide more.
Some babies find a rocking or gliding movement comforting. If you like the idea of this, search for a chair that has either of these functions or both. Top tip: check that the movement isn’t noisy - a creak or squeak every time the chair rocks could be a big distraction in the middle of a quiet night feed.
How big a seat do you want?
If space is limited, plan where to put the chair and take measurements. Go for a more compact option, perhaps without a separate footstool. If you have an older child who likes to cuddle with you for a story or wants to sit next to you while you feed your baby, go for a larger seat.
Do you mind what it looks like?
Nursing chairs can look a bit old-fashioned. Some wouldn’t look out of place in a care home! But, some brands realise being a parent doesn’t mean your sense of style goes out of the window. If the chair fits in with your style and décor, you’re more likely to want to keep it after you’ve stopped nursing.
Is the fabric easy to clean?
Most newborns bring up a little milk, and the odd bout of sickness is inevitable, so make sure the fabric is washable or can be wiped to prevent stains. Plush velour might be soft to the touch, but it can be a nightmare to clean unless treated with a stain guard.

Fabric: Does this feel soft against your skin? Also, make sure that it’s easy to clean.
Headrests: A supportive headrest is a bonus. Pick one so that you can rest comfortably, and check it’s at the right level for you.
Armrests: Are these at the right height and width for you, and are they supportive?
Recline mechanism: If your baby is asleep in your arms, you won’t want to disturb them when you reach for the recline mechanism, so make sure it’s in easy reach when you’re sitting down. You’ll probably only need three recline positions, but be sure it’s quiet to operate.
Cushions and padding: Try the chair out in the shop to make sure it offers good support for your back and that it’s cosy.
Storage pocket: This is really useful when you don’t want to move and disturb your sleeping baby. Use it to keep spare muslins, wipes, a magazine, a book, and a bottle of water close to hand.
Rocking or gliding mechanism: Some chairs rock or glide gently to soothe your baby. Test it out to make sure it isn’t jerky.
Footstool: Check if there is a matching footstool and if it costs extra. Sit in the chair to test if the footstool is at the right height for you.

Review: "After hours and hours spent feeding on our sofa, which although comfortable is quite low and soft, I was developing back pain with some radiation down my leg. I researched breastfeeding chairs and thought this one best seemed to fit, I like the fact it has a glide lock, so if you don’t want to rock all the time, you don’t have to. Review: "The quality of the chair is superb. It makes rocking baby to sleep a great deal easier. It’s quite comfy though some might wish to put a pillow behind their back. We didn’t really check the size of the chair and found it a little too large for our bedroom but it fits nicely in the nursery. Chairs for feeding: what are there and how to choose?
Help in choosing
The nursing chair is a multifunctional piece of furniture suitable for both expectant and breastfeeding mothers. During pregnancy, the chair will help relieve fatigue from the muscles of the back and legs, take a comfortable position and fully relax. After the birth of the long-awaited baby in the chair, it is convenient to feed the newborn and just relax from household chores. And the smooth rocking of the chair has a relaxing and soothing effect on the baby, helping the mother to quickly lull the child. Other family members can also use the lounge chair. nine0005
The shape and the ability to adjust the backrest is one of the important parameters that you need to pay attention to before buying a chair. The ergonomic shape of the back and several levels of inclination will allow you to take the most comfortable position for a good rest.
Having armrests would also be an advantage. The optimal height of the armrests of the chair will allow the mother to relieve the load from the muscles of the hands while feeding or rocking the newborn.
The presence of a footrest depends on the model of the feeding chair. The leg support provides extra comfort, relieves stress and reduces swelling in the legs. Feeding chairs with a footrest are slightly more expensive. There are also models in which both the chair and the support sway simultaneously. nine0005
Pockets are an optional but practical accessory for the highchair. It allows you to keep the things you need close at hand. The pockets are located on the side of the armrests and differ in quite a large capacity.
What should I look for when choosing a feeding chair?
Size . The chair should fit in the dimensions of the room, and should also be comfortable for mom. The most comfortable are models with a high back, which allows you to fully lean with your head on the back of the chair. nine0005
Adjustable . The advantage of the chair for feeding is the ability to adjust the angle of the backrest, as well as the height and width of the chair. Thus, the chair will adapt to the individual parameters of both the mother and other family members.
Back shape . The most comfortable are the chairs, in which the back has an anatomical shape. The anatomical backrest allows you to unload the spine as much as possible and relieve tension from the muscles of the back and neck. nine0005
Oscillator . Currently, there are three ways to swing: on skids, spring and pendulum mechanism. Unlike skids, the pendulum and spring mechanisms are quieter and do not touch the floor when swinging, protecting the floor from scratches.
Retainer . The stopper system allows you to fix the chair without getting up from it. It is very convenient if you hold the baby in your arms.
Foot support . As mentioned above, the presence of leg support depends on the model of the chair. nine0005
What types of chairs are available?
In our article we will look at the most popular types of feeding chairs.
Wooden glider chairs are chairs with a natural wood frame and a footstool. The model can have a tilt-adjustable backrest and a stopper. These chairs have a pendulum swing mechanism.
The metal glider chairs have a metal frame, leg support included, as well as the ability to adjust the backrest angle (depending on the model) and seat height. These models rotate around their axis and have a pendulum swing mechanism. nine0005
Rattan nursing chairs have a natural rattan frame, removable upholstery on the seat and small armrests. These models do not have the ability to adjust the back angle, are suitable for outdoor use and have a more elegant design. Feeding chairs made of rattan can have both arched (runners) and spring swing mechanism.
The wicker chairs have a natural wicker frame. Their characteristics are similar to rattan chairs, only the rocking mechanism of these models is only arcuate. nine0005
The Classic Feeding Chair looks like a regular chair. The frame is made of natural wood, both fabric and practical eco-leather are used as upholstery. The backrest can be adjusted depending on the model. Swinging is carried out by skids.
Micuna Nursing Chairs
Micuna Nursing Chairs are specially designed for expecting and breastfeeding mothers. A high back, comfortable armrests and an ergonomic seat will allow the expectant mother to relax and rest comfortably, relieving tension from the muscles of her back and legs. A distinctive feature of the Relax models is the presence of a folding backrest and a rising footrest: even more relaxation for a good rest. All Micuna rocking chairs have rocking rails: a good solution that will allow you to rock your newborn. The feeding chair can also be used by other family members to relax. nine0005
In addition to Mikun's feeding chairs, you can purchase a comfortable ottoman for legs, as well as legs that are installed instead of rocking runners. In our online store you can buy inexpensive Micuna nursing chairs upholstered in high quality fabric or eco-leather.

Highchair
What is a highchair? This is the first furniture of the baby, the first item on which he will have to sit upright, which means that not only comfort, but also a beautiful posture and good mood of the baby depends on how well it is chosen. If the baby is uncomfortable sitting in a high chair, then the purchase will be useless - it will become impossible to seat the little rebel there.
How do you choose the right chair? First of all, you need to start from the needs - for what it is needed. One of the first needs, when young parents come to the store for a high chair, is the need to feed the child and eat for him on his own. Every mother knows when a child picks up a spoon in her first year - wait for the pogrom, while holding the baby in her arms means getting dirty from head to toe. It is not surprising that parents rush for a chair in which they seat the baby. nine0005
There is now a great variety of high chairs on the market for baby products. Consider the main options:
1. Perhaps the most popular is a high chair that can be folded like a "book" - manufacturers provide a wide range of colors, a variety of shapes and "gadgets". On the one hand, it has a convenient design, such a high chair can fit in the most modest kitchen, can be folded and put away when not in use. On the other hand, after 3 years the chair can be thrown away - in the future it cannot be used in any way. And it’s hard for a mother to lift a two-year-old baby into a high chair, and the design does not imply the possibility of climbing onto it on her own. Plus - the chairs are made of plastic, it is easy to wash, you can remove the tabletop and clean it right under the tap, and then there is a minus - the tabletop is usually sharpened just for food, it is impossible to conveniently lay out a drawing notebook on it. nine0005
2. Also a popular model is a transformer chair, the obvious convenience of which is long-term use, and three, four and even five-year-olds will comfortably sit behind such a chair when it is in the “table + chair” state. That is, as soon as the baby grows out of the “high” chair, it can be lowered down and continue to be used for another couple of years. The disadvantage of this model is that it cannot be folded compactly, it will stand and take up space, both at lunchtime and at any other free time.
