Winter is the coldest, and coziest time of year. When preparing food for a winter baby shower, you’ll want to prepare warmer dishes.

You can serve appetizers such as spinach dip, meat balls, and baked brie to keep your guests warm and full!

Prosciutto and Brie on Artisan Crackers

Prosciutto and brie on artisan crackers is a crispy appetizer with a sweetened finish to it.

Artisan crackers are arranged on a plate, and topped with a slice of brie cheese on each of them.

Basil leaves are placed on top of the brie, along with strips of prosciutto that are placed in a folded shape.

A couple sprigs of arugula are placed on top of the prosciutto to complete the base of the appetizer.

Drizzle a bit of honey and balsamic reduction all over the artisan crackers and enjoy!

Meat Balls

Meat balls are a bite sized appetizer that are packed full of savory flavor and sweet sauce.

Sweet and Tangy Asian meat balls are covered in teriyaki sauce for a sweet and savory flavor.

Garnish the meat balls with fresh parsley and sesame seeds.

You can place a toothpick into each meat ball so it isn’t sticky on your fingers.

Baked Brie

Baked brie is made by baking a wheel of brie in the oven with a variety of toppings.

You can add the toppings prior to baking, or after, depending on the flavoring you’re wanting for your appetizer. Baked brie is served with sliced baguette pieces for dipping, crackers, or celery and carrot sticks.

Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs look eye catching and are quite filling as an appetizer.

They are made by cooking eggs, and the cutting them in half.

The center portion of the egg is mixed with mayo, diced dill pickles, mustard, pepper and paprika.

The filling is piped back into the white portion of the egg, and garnished with a bit more paprika.

Focaccia Bread with Oil and Balsamic

Drizzle extra virgin olive oil on a plate. It should be a decent size, depending on how many people you’ll be serving for.

Pour balsamic reduction over the olive oil in a zig zag design.

Focaccia bread can be cut into strips, and then in half for a decent serving size.

Dip the bread in the mixture of olive oil and balsamic for a savory bread appetizer.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Spinach and artichoke dip is a creamy, hot dip you can serve with baguette slices, or crackers.

Garlic is cooked in olive oil in a frying pan until it releases its aromas.

Spinach is added to the pan and wilts as it cooks. Once it’s done cooking, remove it from it from the heat source.

Cream cheese is mixed together with sour cream, mayo, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, and a little hot sauce.

Cooked spinach is added to the cream cheese mixture along with chopped up artichoke hearts.

Spinach and artichoke dip is placed in a baking dish and baked in the oven for about 20 minutes.

The dip is finished baking when the cheese begins to brown and bubble.

Tea Sandwiches

Tea sandwiches are small sandwiches that are usually served with high tea. They are cut into rectangles or circles to give them a unique shape.

You can make different types of sandwiches for a winter baby shower such as:

  • ham and cheese
  • cucumber and cream cheese
  • egg salad
  • chicken salad
  • tuna salad
  • strawberry, basil and cream cheese

Pinwheels

Pinwheels are made by using a tortilla, and spreading the filling over the tortilla in a thin layer.

The pinwheel is made by rolling up the tortilla, and then slicing it into 1/2-3/4″ rounds.

  • Bacon Jalapeno Pinwheels
  • Ranch Cream Cheese Rollups
  • Vegetable Tortilla Roll Ups

Cheese Ball

Make your own easy cheese ball with cream cheese for a delicious savory appetizer.

The cheese ball is made by simply using a hand mixer to whip the cream cheese until light and fluffy.

Add a couple of herbs, spices and cheddar cheese to create the base of the cheese ball.

The next part is very messy!!

Shape the cream cheese into a ball shape, and roll into a plate of chopped up walnuts.

Chill for half an hour to make it firm up again.

Serve your cheese ball by slicing off a bit of it and put it onto a cracker to enjoy!

Cantaloupe and Prosciutto Wraps

Cantaloupe and prosciutto wraps are juicy and savory.

Slice cantaloupe into thin pieces, and then wrap a piece of prosciutto around the cantaloupe.

Drizzle balsamic reduction over the cantaloupe and prosciutto wraps to garnish.

Winter's Tale: six New Year's routes from the best hotels in St. Petersburg

Four Seasons Lion Palace St. Petersburg complemented the afternoon tea ceremony with New Year's delicacies in the form of fairy-tale characters and a gala glass of sparkling wine /Four Seasons Lion Palace St. Petersburg

On New Year's Eve, each of us wants to plunge into a fairy tale. For everyone, this fairy tale is different - a leisurely dinner in an exquisite restaurant where Yesenin spent evenings with Isadora Duncan, or immersion in the atmosphere of the legendary love story from the Casablanca movie. Someone wants to plunge into the enchanting era of Europe 1920s, and someone is closer to the mystery of St. Petersburg of the Silver Age. You can opt for gastronomic delights from a famous chef or go in search of the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. Or maybe you are closer to the magical story of the Nutcracker and classic Christmas treats. New Year's Petersburg gives you a whole firework of magical and romantic stories.

St. Petersburg New Year's traditions are especially honored at the Grand Hotel Europe. Fluffy Christmas trees, a toy "Orient Express", plying through forests and tunnels, Nutcrackers on the main staircase - the atmosphere of the holiday is already felt at the entrance to the hotel. Traditional Christmas brunches in the historic hall of the Europe restaurant will be held on December 18, 25, and January 1. Caviar, sparkling wine, seafood and meat delicacies, hotel specialties, a bar without limits, a dessert station with miniature masterpieces from the pastry chef and live music - a charge of joy and fun for the upcoming holiday season is guaranteed. Younger guests are welcome at the children's Christmas tree and a master class on decorating gingerbread houses.

Daily tea parties in the Mezzanine cafe in December are served in a festive setting from the legendary Novgorod manufactory Krestetskaya Stochka. On New Year's linen tablecloths and napkins in red, subtle Christmas tree patterns are easily distinguishable. The winter menu, in addition to delicacies, including mini-sandwiches, airy cheese mousse, pancakes with red caviar, Russian puff pastries and assorted desserts, invariably includes a glass of sparkling wine. And the highlight of the festive season will be a New Year's cake according to the recipe of the legendary coach, figure skater Tamara Moskvina. The recipe for the Day and Night cake of two types of biscuit with custard and walnuts has been around for over a century. The family of Tamara Nikolaevna baked this cake only once a year, especially for the New Year's table.

In the famous hall with stained-glass windows, paintings in ebru technique by the artist Olga Kaurova based on New Year's fairy tales will come to life / "Grand Hotel Europe"

In the "Grand Hotel Europe" New Year will be celebrated in the historical restaurant "Europe" to the sounds of a chamber orchestra. In the famous hall with stained-glass windows, ebru paintings by the artist Olga Kaurova based on the New Year's fairy tales Frost, The Nutcracker and Twelve Months will come to life. A festive menu of six courses with wine accompaniment will enhance your vivid impressions. By the way, you can celebrate the New Year in the famous lobby bar: live music from a jazz band, popular hits, champagne, bright cocktails and New Year's sets from the chef.

The festive mood in the northern capital has been felt since the beginning of December. At the Four Seasons Lion Palace St. Petersburg complemented the afternoon tea ceremony with New Year's delicacies in the form of fairy-tale characters and a solemn glass of sparkling wine. And in the festive boutique of the hotel, homemade chocolate, desserts, handmade sweets and cosmetics sets are already waiting. For the little sweet tooth, the confectioners came up with chocolate Christmas balls, and for the New Year's table - "Christmas log", made in the shape of the Nutcracker, the favorite hero of New Year's stories. Lovers of European traditions will definitely fall in love with the Italian Christmas panettone cake, decorated with a playful Santa Claus marzipan hat.

The New Year's ritual at Luceo Spa will also help bring the festive mood closer. A chocolate wrap based on Swiss chocolate will improve your well-being, give you strength and help to give your figure graceful lines, which is important on the eve of the New Year. However, chocolate is used not only externally - at the end of the procedure, guests are offered a cup of fragrant hot cocoa to consolidate the effect.

On the main night of the year, the Percorso restaurant will change dramatically and turn into the palace of the Snow Queen. A shimmering snow-covered mysterious garden will spread across four halls. A gala dinner awaits guests in a fairy-tale realm, the menu of which is built on an elegant combination of ingredients, textures and aromas, but not without the warmth of a family Italian celebration. In the Tea Room under a glass dome at midnight, a ball inspired by the stories of the Nutcracker will unfold, and in the Xander bar they will offer to follow the White Rabbit, because only he knows exactly how to get into a happy 2023.

Throughout December, the sparkling festive atmosphere, filled with anticipation of a miracle, is also felt in the Astoria Hotel. Every year the hotel surprises guests with Christmas trees designed in collaboration with fashion houses and famous designers. This year, especially for Astoria, the Axenoff jewelry house created a Christmas Tree for the Empress. Among the toys made according to the sketches of the artist-jeweler Pyotr Aksenov, there are magic carriages from the fairy tales of Charles Perrault, houses from the stories of Hoffmann and crowns decorated with a scattering of pearls. Balls with lilies of the valley, the favorite flowers of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, became a refined addition to the Christmas tree.

The Rotunda Lounge traditionally hosted a Christmas market with all kinds of sweet gifts - from gingerbread houses and cupcakes with various fillings to chocolate Santa Clauses, handmade sweets and candied nuts. The daily afternoon tea at the Rotunda has been enriched with appetizing and elegant New Year's delicacies, and the pianists have already included Christmas melodies in their repertoire. On New Year's Eve, the main restaurant of the hotel will prepare a sumptuous dinner. The menu includes such traditional New Year's dishes as Olivier salad and aspic, and truly gourmet positions: king crab fillet, halibut with lobster meat and black angus beef with winter black truffle. And the Borsalino restaurant of the Angleterre hotel will treat you to an Italian menu.

Golden hits by Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra, a glass of champagne and light snacks - feel like Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart in far sunny Morocco.

The Taiga restaurant in the first and only chalet in St. Petersburg, the multi-format Restaurant & Lounge Club Taiga complex, was inspired by another delightful cinematic masterpiece - Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. Like the protagonist of the picture, for just one night you will be transported to the enchanting and luxurious era of Europe in the 1920s, filled with dance music and excellent author's cuisine.
