How the Kid'z Katch! was born:

Kid’z Katch! was invented by me, Kim Ballard, a mom of two, when my first born son was about 10 months old. I grew tired of constantly bending down to the floor to pick up my baby's dropped utensils, cups and toys and disinfecting them, and dealing with wasted food and very messy floors - just to do it all over again next mealtime. I thought that there had to be a product on the market to help alleviate some of the hassle because I couldn’t possibly be the only parent with this problem. But after extensive searching, the best solution I could find were traditional splat mats. But those splash mats didn't solve the problem of needing to constantly bend to floor to retrieve items and disinfecting them or having something cumbersome to clean up afterwards.

So I set out to solve my own problem. I sketched out an idea in my head and then on paper. I went to the fabric store, whipped out my old sewing machine, and got busy making something that would work for me. When finished, I was happy with my creation because it really did make my life easier. When my baby dropped something, I could easily retrieve it and give it back to him. There was much less wasted food and mess on my floor to mop up, and it was easy to clean the "catcher".

Shortly thereafter, I brought my contraption to a local restaurant. We couldn't even eat because other customers and even the restaurant owner came over to ask us about it. This happened enough times dining out with our baby that my husband and I realized we should make the invention available to others.

My husband Nolan has been behind me every step of the way. We worked together for years to refine and engineer the Kid'z Katch! to make sure it was safety compliant and compatible with as many high chairs as possible. We were granted a utility patent from the United States Patent Office in 2014 and then we began working with our manufacturing partner to produce our first production run. I designed everything that you see from the construction materials, the color and print of the fabrics, and even the packaging. We launched our company KNB Innovations, Inc. in January 2017 and brought Kid'z Katch! to market. The municipal budgetary preschool educational institution kindergarten No. 24 is one separate building. The territory is fenced, has outdoor lighting. On the territory there are 2 walking areas, a green area (flower beds, planting along the perimeter, gardens for work and observations with children).
The kindergarten has the following premises:

The catering unit is equipped with the necessary technological and refrigeration equipment in working order. Technological equipment, inventory, utensils, containers are made of materials approved for contact with food products. All kitchen utensils and cookware are labeled for raw and cooked foods. During the operation of technological equipment, the possibility of contact between food raw materials and ready-to-eat products is excluded. Production equipment, cutting equipment and utensils meet the requirements. The catering unit is equipped with a system of supply and exhaust ventilation with mechanical and natural impulses. Food products enter the kindergarten at the food warehouse and have documents confirming their origin, quality and safety. The quality of the products is checked by the supply manager - the person in charge carries out the rejection of raw products, makes an entry in a special journal. Food products without accompanying documents, with expired shelf life and signs of spoilage are not allowed to be accepted. Children's nutrition follows the principles of gentle nutrition, which involves the use of certain methods of cooking, such as boiling, steaming, stewing, baking, and fried foods are excluded, as well as foods with irritating properties. The control of food quality (diversity), fortification of dishes, laying food products, culinary processing, the output of dishes, the taste of food, the sanitary condition of the catering department, the correct storage, compliance with the deadlines for the sale of products is assigned to the head nurse.
In MBDOU No. 24, 4 meals a day are organized for children: breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, in group rooms. In the proper organization of nutrition for children, the creation of a favorable and emotional environment in the group is of great importance.
