Be prepared to replace this on your own dimeKate S.As others have noted, the tray is difficult to remove; because of that, I just left the tray attached. After a month of use, there came one mess that just really required a sink clean-up. Popped the tray off with a BANG, washed it, and reattached. About a week later, needed to wash it again. Pulled off the tray, and realized that one of the tabs holding the tray onto the side of the chair (near the top of one of the U arms) had split -- not broken off, but split down the middle, as though the plastic was too weak and failed. The tray can be attached still, but it wobbles on that side; not ideal for safety. IKEA telephone customer service will not provide a replacement, as the damage was caused "while the product was in use". Perhaps I would have gotten a different response in person, but my nearest physical store in the USA is hours away. Sure, the tray is only $8, but paying another $6 for shipping on top of that, for a part with a clear design flaw, is rather irksome. 1

So definitely a piece of junk and given that there are several other reviews that mention this exact issue, surprising (but also not really) that ikea hasn’t attempted to fix this issue.1

Wonderful... BUTlynnThis high chair is easy to clean and easy to carry from room to room. We love it! BUT... it is very difficult to remove the tray. We have watched several youtube videos. I could never get it off. My husband got it off a number of times but finally, it broke and we had to buy another one for $5 but the problem was not solved. Good news. You can get the baby in and out while the tray is on. It is easy to wipe down and for those extremely messy times, you can hose off the highchair outside. 5

The disappointing part of this unit is the two little hooks that are inserted into the chair piece are very flimsy and break extremely easily. I think the first one broke off the second time we removed it to wash it. We just bought a new one because my little princess is now strong enough that it would pivot forward if she presses on the tray portion. Another design flaw is that the tray indentation runs into the armrests and that’s just a food falling out the sides issue that could have been easily avoided.2
