9 Best Organic Baby Food Pouches – an expert review of the best tried-and-true brands! I tested all 9 baby food pouches for consistency, taste, ingredients and price and come up with my 4 winners! Easy guide on the best store-bought baby food pouches to serve baby!
Best Baby Food PouchesI get it.
You may not want to make all of your own baby food, or you are in a pinch and are traveling or heading to a playdate without a stash of puree on you.
You need a go-to brand of store-bought baby food that’s as delicious as it is nutritious.
So I rounded up 9 of the top brands of store-bought organic baby foods and put them through my rigorous testing.
I tested them for consistency, taste, price and ingredients <—— yes, you read that right, I tasted each and every baby food puree in this post!
And I was actually surprised what I discovered.
More than half of them I would feed to my own babies! But a couple of them I would pass up in the market in a heart beat.
There were clearly 4 amazing winners (see below for the official awards).
And find out which ones to avoid.
A couple of things before you see the results:
- I bought all of these baby food purees at my local Target, Whole Foods or King Soopers. If you can’t find them at your local grocery stores, or you want front door service, you can order all of these pouches directly from amazon with the links provided.
- This is not a sponsored post. Non of these brands have paid me, or even know I am posting this. This is just my honest expert opinion.
- No pouches are recyclable through a city recycling program, which a big bummer. You can however recycle them through TerraCycle. I also know that some preschools and baby stores in some cities already have these recycle programs in place for you to use.

Happy Baby Organics – Winner of Best Ingredients
I taste-tested these two Happy Baby Organics Baby Food Pouches:
- Apples, Pumpkin & Carrots Puree
- Pears, Kale & Spinach Puree
Overall:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5 stars
Notes: Smooth puree with hints of the real food but rounded out to be a little bland with a hint of tartness. Not a bad puree, just a mild taste that would be great for baby’s with sensitive taste buds. Love the ingredient list saying how much produce is in each pouch!
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars (average 0.36/ounce)
Try a bunch of flavors with their Assorted Variety Pouch Pack!
Gerber OrganicI taste-tested these two Gerber Organic Baby Food Pouches:
- Apple, Carrot, Squash Puree
- Banana, Blueberry, Blackberry, Oatmeal Puree
Overall: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Notes: The apple, carrot and squash puree was watery. The Oatmeal puree contains wheat, which I thought was an unnecessary ingredient for a baby puree. Both were VERY sweet and I thought they had added concentrated apple juice or something. Overall, not my favorite purees.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars (average 0.38/ounce)
I taste-tested these two Plum Organics Baby Food Pouches:
- Apple & Carrot Baby Food Puree
- Apple, Plum, Berry & Barley Baby Food Puree
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5 stars
Notes: These two baby food purees surprised me because I could actually taste the individual flavors of the produce in each pouch! Not overly sweet or tart. Overall, one of my favorite pouches!
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars (average 0. 33/ounce)
Try a bunch of flavors with their Plum Organics Stage 2 Fruit & Veggie Variety Pack.
Peter Rabbit OrganicsI taste-tested these two Peter Rabbit Organics Baby Food Pouches:
- Banana, Raspberry & Blueberry Puree
- Banana, Mango, Broccoli & Kale Puree
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Notes: The consistency was so amazing – thick and smooth, but the taste was too sweet and you couldn’t taste anything but banana. Would be great for desserts or special purees for baby.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars (average 0.38/ounce)
I taste-tested these two Earth’s Best Baby Food Pouches:
- Pear, Carrot Apricot Baby Food Puree
- Banana Blueberry Baby Food Puree
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3. 5/5 stars
Notes: Not too sweet or tart. Okay, if not on the blander side. Would be great for babies with more sensitive palettes.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars (average 0.29/ounce)

SproutI taste-tested these two Sprout Baby Food Pouches:
- Carrot Apple Mango
- Apple Blueberry
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Notes: I was completely surprised by this one. They both tasted like real food! Not too sweet, just right. Filled with great ingredients. Would definitely feed these pouches to my girls.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars (average 0. 40/ounce)
Would definitely recommend trying out this Sprout Organic 12 Flavor Variety Sampler!
Once Upon A FarmI taste-tested these two Once Upon A Farm Baby Food Pouches:
- Sun-Shiny Strawberry Patch
- Green Kale & Apple
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars
Notes: I really really wanted to love this brand of baby food, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me, especially for the price. The strawberry patch was way too watery and the green kale had a very intense kale flavor that I think most babies would be turned off of. Their ingredients and method of making their purees (cold press so you don’t lose any nutrients) is the most creative and nutrient dense of the bunch, so I am giving them some credit for that.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Price: ⭐️ 1/5 stars (average 0. 90/ounce)
I taste-tested these two NuturMe Baby Food Pouches:
- Apple – Pumpkin – Beet
- Banana – Pumpkin – Celery
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5 stars
Notes: I was completely surprised by this brand – it was delicious! Great consistency, taste and ingredients! They are a newer company, so they are priced a little higher than their competition, but in my foodie opinion, it’s so worth it.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars (average 0.58/ounce)
I would for sure put this NuturMe Power Blends Variety Pack on Subscribe and Save – it’s so worth it!
Mama Bear – Winner of
Best Priced PouchI taste-tested these two Mama Bear Baby Food Pouches:
- Pumpkin, Apple, Peach, Buckwheat
- Pear, Apple, Broccoli
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Notes: This puree was a little too sweet and acidic at the same time. The price is surprisingly the cheapest of the bunch, so I might try some more flavors, but I wouldn’t order these two again.
Update: I tried the Apple Banana and the Mango, Apple, Carrot and Peach and those were much better tasting.
Consistency: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
Taste: ⭐️⭐️ 2/5 stars
Ingredients: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 start (average 0.27/ounce)

These Plum Organic Apple and Carrot pouches are great for babies! They love the taste of the apple and carrot together and they seem to chug it down. These are the perfect size for travelling and on the go, but they are also handy just to have at home when you need/want them. These pouches are easy for babies/toddlers to squeeze and hold onto. The only thing they may need help with is squeezing it up at the end. Make sure to not let them have the lids. Babies eat these up and I would buy again if I had another child. They are so handy, easy and I love that they are an organic product. I feel so much better giving my child something that is natural and healthy! They love it! Quality of Ingredients Love the organic ingredients. It makes me want to buy the product more. That and babies love them! Safety These are very safe as long as you toss the lid. The lid would be the only safety problem because of the little plastic pieces that can be poking out when twisted off and that they could put the lid in their mouth. Other than that the product is very safe.

As strange as it may be, my boyfriend's mom got me hooked on these (for myself), while I don't have children, I do find myself frequenting the baby food aisle to grab some quick, nutritious snacks. They are so convenient, because they're so portable. I can toss them in my bag for a quick snack on the go, and they are great for the workday as I have a goofy schedule. I feel good about getting doses of fruits and veggies in a great tasting snack. After having oral surgery a few weeks ago, these were a life saver, as they provided me with nutrients, and something to tide me over while not being able to eat much else. They come in amazing flavors and the texture is definitely more than bearable, as I've found a few other brands that just aren't quite as tasty or go down as smooth. Quality of Ingredients These are available in great flavors and give off healthy doses of vitamins. Safety These are definitely a safe product as it would easily fit in a toddler's grasp. The only downfall, is that the cap can actually be slightly difficult to get off, even for an adult.

Love the new pouch foods! I don't have babies anymore, but I love them for the convenience. I can throw them in a bag when we go places, and have nourishing treats when we need a little bit of energy. I love how they are mess free, and just the right size for everyone. When they first came out on the market, we were a little unsure. It felt like we were drinking a baby bottle. After a few tries (of the many different flavors), we finally found some that we absolutely love, and consume daily. I love that the pouches come in stages. For babies, to toddlers. Guess the consistency must change a little bit from one stage to the next. None of us really notice any difference. I can imagine for a parent tho, this is very handy. I also like that Plum Organics purees veggies along with the fruit mixture. Every little bit of veggies the kids consume - especially when they can't taste it is a plus for me. Another positive factor of these pouches is that Organic Fruit and Veggies are used. Now days there are so many additives thrown into foods, it's hard to find something nutritious that you can trust. I like that I can trust this company to use the best products available. Safety As long as a parent discards the lid, I find them to be very safe!

I really like these plum organics apple and carrot organic baby food pouches. I like them a lot because they are so easy for your children to use. They are made with organic ingredients which are great for your little ones stomach. They are very healthy in the sense that they are made of mashed fruits and vegetables. These baby food pouches are also very safe. The food comes out very soft and smooth with no chunks that your little one could choke on. They are also very safe because they can be bit on by your little one and nothing small will come off of it and go into his or her mouth. I like these a lot also because they are perfect for travel. You can give them to your child anywhere and all they do is squeeze it and they have their little snack. They are so much easier to use then jar food because then you do not have to worry about any messes. When i used this product i found that my child loved them for the taste, and i loved them because they make things much easier.

I'm a mother to a new baby after my oldest was born 6 and a half years ago, so it's a challenge learning what has changed in the baby products available. One thing that has changed for the better in the introduction of these baby food pouches. They are a lot more convenient than jars or plastic rectangular packages. If you are in a hurry and are trying to feed your baby in the back seat of a car, it's very easy to just squirt the product in their mouth. They are also resealable, so if your baby doesn't eat the whole thing in one serving it's easy to refrigerate the leftovers. I like the Plum Organics brand best because they incorporate a lot of different vegetables and grains that they other brands don't. You'll find broccoli, amaranth, quinoa, beets - a lot more than the apples and bananas in a lot of other products. My baby has tried just about every flavor they make, and I have yet to find one that he won't eat. Eating organic food is also very important to me. While other brands (like Gerber) have added an organic line, Plum Organics is a brand that is totally focused on organic food, rather than making it because they're chasing a trend. As a family we are very conscious of what we eat and try and eat organic wherever possible.

I have tried Plum Organics Apple & Carrot Baby food as a quick snack for my 2 year old. It is very convenient packaged in a single use pouch. It is very convenient when travelling or going for a walk. When my kid gets hungry, I just open a new pouch, then simply discard the empty pack. I like the fact that it is organic, but still reasonably priced. Also, the mix of a fruit and a vegetable is nice. Really, you cannot taste vegetables at all. So, it works even for picky eaters. The only thing I do not like is a big screw cap. It feels as such a waste of plastic and I wish it was smaller.

I really like the Plum Organics line of products. I've tried the apple before giving it to my 6 month old who is now almost 9 months. I like that the pouches are a little smaller so that I don't waste too much. After opening the baby food I store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 more days and then toss it. My baby scrunches her nose when she first eats it but she keeps asking for more once I give it to her. I also really love their puffs. The purple and orange are the best. I get tempted to eat a few whenever I feed her. Quality of Ingredients I wouldn't be feeding my baby anything that I wouldn't eat. Although I prefer to give her organic fruits from the market I think it's just easier when we are out to give her fruit from a pouch. I've tried several other brands and I prefer Plum Organics over the other brand names. I would recommend this to parents who are feeding their baby solids for the first time. Safety The cap on top of the bottle tightly seals the product inside the pouch. As for letting my baby play with the bottle cap, I wouldn't because there are ridges on top that might break off. The pouch is easy to store and there are blunt edges so that a baby can't get cut.

Love, love, love this. Great quality, great texture for growing palates. As my child has grown shes become uninterested in some lackluster brands of baby food, but she loves plum organic. I love that its organic. The container is awesome; easily resealed, virtually no mess. In a fix you can even feed it without a spoon. My child loves that...she thinks its sooo funny. It doesn't take up much space in a diaper bag and doesn't weigh very much. Any mom knows how important that is...throw a few baby foods into a diaper bag can totally weigh you down. All around and amazing product. I've had a little difficulty finding it in stores but definitely worth the time spent looking.

When I first saw a lady at my church giving one of these pouches of baby food to her little baby, I had to know what it was and where it came from. Our church is right during lunch time, so it is hard for me to bring jars or tubs of baby food, whip out a spoon, bib, and everything else you need to feed the babe. This makes it SO easy. The little lid twists right off, and can easily be put back on again in case baby doesn't finish it the first go around. My baby loves the taste, especially of this particular one, the purple carrot and apple flavor. I had never heard of a purple carrot before, but it sounds healthy, and my son LOVES it! The size is perfect, its not 3 ounces which is almost not enough, but not too much. I believe its around 4 or 4.5 ounces of food which is a great amount for a snack or to accompany something else for a meal. I love that he can just suck out the food, without hardle making any mess! So convenient.

My son is a very very picky eater and his pickiness and food aversions is due to a medical problem in his infancy. He now is 19 months old and we have a very hard time getting veggies into him. He never liked any of the other "jarred" foods in the carrot flavor so I was unsure if he'd like this one but the pouch was "cool" enough to make him want to try and it and apparently the apple combined with the carrots makes it delicious because he will slurp it down in no time flat. He also loves the cap and has a great time unscrewing it and screwing it back on which is great because it makes learning fun! I love that it comes in a convenient pouch, all baby food should come this way! He loves to squeeze it into his mouth, it makes eating fun and when you have a picky eater this is AWESOME! I'm so glad we found Plum Organics, it's well worth the extra money for quality. It's an excellent product and with our next son we will start with this type of food instead of the lesser "jarred" foods.

Baby food: plum ~
Plum is a stone fruit with juicy pulp. Depending on the variety, it is purple, yellow, yellowish-green with a pink blush, pale green, red, blue, black-blue with a bluish-gray bloom.
Differs in a high content of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, silicon, iron, manganese, zinc, copper; vitamins of group B (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9), E, A, C, beta-carotene .
Fiber and organic acids in the composition of fruits cleanse blood vessels, break down fats, remove toxins and slags, normalize bowel function, increase immunity. Fresh plums and prunes are a proven remedy for constipation in children. nine0003
When to feed plums?
Plums are added to complementary foods for a breastfed child at the age of 8-9 months , when the child already eats cereals, vegetable and meat purees, fermented milk products, egg yolk and fruit purees from apples, pears, peaches, apricots, bananas.
For children who are not breastfeeding, plums can be given at 7-8 months of age. It is advisable to start feeding with yellow plums, as the least allergenic.
How to give a child a plum for the first time?
A small amount of plum puree is first added to other fruits to which the child is not allergic, gradually accustoming the baby's body to the new product. Children up to a year are given 3-4 teaspoons of puree 2-3 times a week.
Prune compote for children is often prepared for younger children - from 6 months and earlier, if they have problems with the gastrointestinal tract that cause constipation. Give a few drops and monitor the reaction of the baby. nine0003
How to choose a plum for complementary foods?
The priority is the fruits from their summer cottage.
If the products are from the counter, then they buy varieties of fruits that grow in the strip where the family lives, during the year when they harvest, from the end of July to September. The fruits should be free of spots, dents, skin damage, and also completely ripe - the immaturity of the plum, like other fruits and berries, causes severe diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever in the child. It is unacceptable to give plums to a small child, even with minor defects. nine0003
Only sweet varieties of plums are suitable for babies . For example:
- "Golden Ball" - rounded large fruits with a dense peel, yellow skin and flesh, taste similar to a peach or pineapple;
- "Red Ball" — rounded large fruits with a dense skin, red-amber color, yellow-white friable aromatic pulp;
- "Rekord" — rounded large fruits of violet-bluish color with golden-yellow flesh, aroma reminiscent of almonds. nine0046
Babies are allergic to plums
Can babies be allergic to plums?
A negative reaction to the plum may be diarrhea, abdominal cramps, skin rashes. In such cases, the product is excluded from the diet until one year of age and older.
What to cook with plums and prunes?
How to cook a plum for feeding?
The simplest recipe is Weaning Plum Puree which is very easy to prepare. nine0003
Pre-washed fruits for puree are poured over with boiling water, immediately removed the skin, remove the stone, carefully knead in a blender, if necessary, add a little warm boiled water.
In addition to the traditional plum puree, prunes compote is prepared for children. for a baby. 10 pieces of prunes are placed in 300 ml of cool filtered water, boiled for 20 minutes over low heat, then allowed to brew for 2 hours. Before feeding, the compote is filtered.
Complementary foods are prepared at one time. Do not put sugar in puree and compote.
