How do I know how much to feed my baby at mealtimes?

When you begin, you are introducing your baby to the idea of eating something other than breast milk or formula, more than supplementing your baby's diet. For that reason, it is not necessary at first for your baby to eat a certain amount. Your child should show readiness signs that they are ready to begin solids (discuss these with your pediatrician), and one of those signs is the ability to turn their head. This ability enables your child to signal you by turning away from the spoon.  

Babies differ so much in their preferences and their readiness for solids that it's difficult to make hard and fast rules about the consistency, amount, and type of solid foods to offer. You and your pediatrician should discuss your individual child's needs as they grow and develop.

What are the 3 “stages” of baby food?

When it comes to baby food, there are three common “stages” based on the texture and flavor complexity. Here are the basics: 

Stage 1 is for 4-6 months. It typically has one ingredient with a light consistency 

Stage 2 is for 6-8 months. These foods include a few ingredients, and the consistency gets a little thicker. 

Stage 3 is for 9-12 months. These foods include blended purees and softer finger foods. 

Stage 4  (AKA Toddler) is for 12 months and up. Your toddler will be a self-feeding pro with Sprout Organics snacks like Wafflez and Curlz. Plus, they’re ready for tasty options like our Butternut Mac n Cheese and the Burrito Bowl.

According to the most recent USDA Dietary Guidelines, 90% of children under 2 years old are falling short of their daily recommendation of vegetables (about ¾-1 cup per day). Here at Sprout Organics, we know that getting your kiddo to sit and eat a whole cup of vegetables every day isn’t always reasonable.

Smart raw food diet

Many people, having decided to become vegetarians or raw foodists, try to jump from one train to another at full speed. Undoubtedly, the generally accepted norms of nutrition inevitably carry us to the final station of life. And we need to urgently change direction. But for this it is absolutely not necessary to bring yourself to dystrophy and resuscitation. And for many, this is the end of the experience of a sharp transition to a new power system.

Instead, the author proposes to calmly drive to the nearest station and there comfortably transfer to the return train without crashing to death and without losing your luggage. That is why the author of this book pays so much attention to the transition diet. nine0005

Real raw foodists eat food in the form in which it was "cooked" by Nature - straight from the garden. No hassle with cooking, dishes!

I don't think one should fanatically consume foods in an absolutely unaltered form. After all, we still chew them, moisten them with saliva, process them with gastric juice and warm them to the temperature of our own body. In other words, we adapt natural food to our body system.

If we are physically weak, then in the process of restoring our health it is logical to use crutches in the form of kitchen appliances and appliances. The main thing is that food processing should save us most of the valuable natural substances, saturated with control and healing information. nine0005

I call this "smart raw food" because of the targeted and creative nature of this approach.

One should not rush from side to side under the slogans of this or that “only correct method”, but consciously and painstakingly build one's diet.

What kind of energy do we need

I can say with confidence that the value of food is not limited to the calories it contains, the amount of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Man is not a locomotive that feeds on calories. nine0005

Our body needs different levels of energy. The more creative our activity is, the more information the food should be saturated with. For example, if flower pollen is approached with the usual dietary standards, then its value as a food product is close to zero. However, pollen almost entirely consists of vitamin-mineral complexes and contains a complete set of amino acids. Pollen is the best food for those who work at the limit of intellectual loads. It is also a very good food for the elderly as it can completely replace meat and poultry. But we should not forget that with constant use, pollen thins the blood. But if we eat only those foods that contain practically no natural information, such as semolina, then our body must expend its own "computational resources" to extract its calories from the porridge. After such a meal, the potential of our nervous system is intensively consumed and we are attacked by drowsiness. So, from a person who eats bread and meat, it is difficult to expect a creative take-off or original solutions. But fussiness, aggressiveness and gloom are the usual companions of such a diet. nine0005

After eating fruits and herbs, after a few minutes you begin to feel the warming up of the body, and after half an hour an emotional upsurge comes - this is how the organizing effect of the information that we took in with food manifests itself.

The information that comes to us in the form of food largely controls us, shapes our subconscious aspirations. Nature's information makes us whole, gives us natural immunity and guides our evolution.

If you eat only fast food, then without the orienting influence of the natural environment, a person begins a rapid physical, sensual and mental degradation . Already now you can see the problems of the generation that chose hamburgers, Coca-Cola and Snickers: people are starting to turn into monsters. Have you ever wondered why there are so many monsters and freaks in the Western film industry, even in cartoons? It is as if we are being prepared for a future in which man will lose his natural appearance. nine0005

The Western world gravitates towards tight control and mechanical programming. But people from Russia, China or India are increasingly invited to solve creative problems. I see here the consequences of dietary preferences that have become standard in "prosperous" countries.

Signs of increased vitality

In the future, I will repeat a simple thought more than once: not everything raw can be useful for you! For example, people who have the first blood group are completely unsuitable for wheat or alfalfa sprouts. Not knowing this, many suffer, lose strength and aggravate illnesses. nine0005

Therefore, having realized that the generally accepted "industrial" diet destroys health, one should not try to solve the problem in one fell swoop. You have a long way to go, painstakingly building your own diet.

If after 10–20 minutes after eating you feel that your body begins to warm up, as if covered with pleasant fluff or goosebumps, your drowsiness has disappeared, your mood has improved, your perception has sharpened and your thoughts “ran” easily and cheerfully, then your food was right and your vitality has increased as a result.

Good signs are also a feeling of a light "fire" burning on the soles of the feet, on the palms, in the middle of the chest, the transformation of perspiration into dry electrification, light and deep breathing, a feeling of transparency and airiness of the body. nine0005

But if after eating you were irresistibly drawn to sleep, you began to freeze, a feeling of cold appeared in the area of ​​the solar plexus or in the right hypochondrium, or a fire began to flare up; if immediately after eating or after a while gases appeared and the intestines moved sharply, then the food turned out to be unsuitable for you, even if it is considered healthy according to all health prescriptions.

Bad signs are also deterioration of mood, confusion of thoughts, the appearance of irritation or fussiness, as well as cold perspiration, cooling of the feet or hands, a feeling of weakness in the legs. And although such signs can appear, as already mentioned, from raw food, they are much more often caused by fast food, junk food, which modern teenagers love to eat so much. These signs indicate poisoning of the body.

Thermal processing of food - destroying the connection with nature

Natural food miraculously corresponds to the internal structure of the body. One could say that the creatures have adapted over time. How long will it take a person to adapt, for example, to the use of coal or oil? GM foods or trans fats? Most likely, trying to adapt to the use of such products, we will all die out quickly. nine0005

It is necessary to realize that living beings and their food develop in interrelation as they tune each other's energy. And the presence of this very ability to adapt is amazing!

Modern microbiology has revealed this secret: Nature itself tells the creatures inhabiting it how and in what direction they should change. The most important information is transmitted through food chains, without which living organisms simply cannot exist. They will not be able to evolve, adapt to food, or even just digest it and get rid of waste. This information contributes to the synchronization of living beings with the environment. nine0005

But we are such hackers-hooligans! Greens, raw vegetables, fruits, nuts contain living complexes of vitamins, enzymes and microelements.
