Beaba babycook baby food maker video
Baby Food Maker Review: The Beaba Babycook Solo
When it comes to parenting, I like to think my recipe is a heap of woo-woo with a healthy dash of pragmatism. I co-slept for the first few months and breastfeed and babywear on the regular. My baby’s room is adorned with rose quartz crystals, and I can recite her star chart by heart.
So when it came time to introduce solids (Yay! Food! My boobs get a break!), I was torn between those little glass jars of baby food (an obvious and easy solution) and having to make food myself—adding yet another to-do to my never-ending list of items.
Quick note: I am not knocking store-bought baby food. There are some great options available, and I think feeding your baby with love—while you talk to them and giggle with them—is the most vital ingredient in any meal.
I read a few blog posts on how to “easily” create your own baby food, and they went something like this: Clean food. Chop food. Measure food. Measure water. Throw food into a steamer or double boiler. Steam on stove. Transfer to a food processor. Purée. Next, store in little jars. Next, freeze the excess—or throw it out the window because I’m literally already overwhelmed.
As a solidly mediocre cook, I quickly realized that if I was going to do this, I needed a gadget. So after some Googling, I came across the Beaba Babycook Solo—an item that already has glowing reviews from mommy bloggers. And it’s easily the best purchase I’ve made since becoming a parent.
The design of the baby-food maker is sleek—it comes in several colors (we opted for the navy blue)—and it takes up almost no space on our tiny NYC countertop. But the real highlight is how easy it is to use. All you do is chop up whatever food you’re using and drop it into the basket, add water to the reservoir, then press a button. Voilá. No need to watch the stove, set a timer, or wonder if you added the right amount of water. After 15 to 20 minutes (depending on what you’re cooking), the Babycook beeps and your food is steamed.
The excess water from steaming collects in the mixing container in which the steaming basket sits. If you’re saving that water (as I often do), you just dump the steamed food directly into the mixing container with the water. Close the lid, then turn the only knob on the machine to purée. It’s that simple.
With the food-prep handled, I actually have time to devote brainpower to a more interesting task: Coming up with creative and delicious recipes for our baby. We’ve combined beets and blueberries; butternut squash, yellow squash, corn, and oregano; apples, pears, and cinnamon; quinoa, sweet potatoes, and basil—the list goes on. We’ve also steamed chicken, and the Babycook is designed to handle any raw meat and fish as well. (If you’re looking for more recipes, Beaba offers a bunch here, and I’ve also found some good ideas here.) Plus, the food looks and tastes like food. I was under the impression that baby food would be an unappetizing beige mush—but what we’ve made has been colorful and filled with various textures, and, yes, I’ve definitely eaten it.

14. The steam button light has turned red and will not go off.
What should I do?
Don't worry, nothing is wrong with your Babycook®. The red light is just the descaling reminder light. The appliance is equipped with a cycle counter which indicates when your product requires descaling (50 cycles).
Follow the instructions for descaling; you can find the instructions in your manual or on this site.
Instructions on how to descale your Babycook®:
- Only use white distilled vinegar – no sugar contained or the BEABA Descaling Liquid for Babycook.
- Never use a chemical descaler or a coffee machine descaler in the reservoir.
- Never warm the white vinegar or the BEABA Cleaning product for BABYCOOK. This is a cold unheated process.
- Unplug your appliance, descaling should be done cold and does not require a heating cycle.
- Pour a mixture of 110 ml (1/2 cup) of water and 110 ml (1/2 cup) of white distilled vinegar – no sugar containedor the BEABA Descaling Liquidfor Babycook into the reservoir.

Troubleshooting
20. My Babycook® is not heating. Why is it not heating?
- Babycook® may not be properly plugged in. Check that the appliance is properly plugged with power.
- The bowl lid and/or the bowl are not correctly attached. When positioned on the base, turn the bowl clockwise until you hear a click and the bowl will not turn any further. Then make sure the lid is also locked by re-opening it and then closing it while pressing on the rubber arrow on top of the locking arm that holds the lid until you hear a click. Check out the video attached to this article for more info on this.
- You have not pressed the round steam button. You will know that the button is pressed and a heat cycle is in progress when the steam button is back-lit.
- There is no water in the steam heating compartment. Add the correct measure of water to the steam heating compartment (the water goes in the tank NOT the bowl).
- If Babycook® is not heating and you have ruled out the above causes, the heating element or thermostat may not be functioning properly. In this case, please contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor so we will help you with this issue.
21. My Babycook® is not working at all (there is no power).

- If this does not work, contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor so we will help you with this issue.
22. My food is not cooking all the way through. Why is that?
- There is too much scale build-up in the steam heating reservoir. Descale your appliance regularly to prevent lime scale build up in the water tank. See above directions for descaling.
- There is not enough water in the steam heating compartment. Add the correct measure of water to the steam heating compartment (the water goes in the tank NOT the bowl).
- There is too much food in the bowl and there is no room for the steam to circulate and fully cook the food. Reduce the amount of food in the bowl and/or run the steaming cycle again.
23. There is fine brown silt at the bottom of my heating reservoir. What is it?
If you notice a brown deposit (lime scale) in your heating reservoir, you'll need to descale your appliance. Instructions for descaling are located in your product manual or on this site.
Please note: this is not toxic to your infant.

25. Why does my lid have a gap when it's locked onto the blending bowl?
This is normal. The assembly lid must have a gap to ensure steam can escape.
26. Why is my Babycook® leaking?
Leakage can be caused by a variety of issues. It is best to check each one to ensure your product is working properly.
- Check the blade seal ring and ensure that it is properly assembled under the knife blade. The blade seal ring should be mounted with the thin edge of the blade touching the metal part of the bowl.
Please watch the video that is part of this article to make sure that your gasket is properly attached to the blade and bowl.
If there is no blade seal ring underneath the blade or if the blade seal ring is work out or ripped. You must replace the blade seal ring. Please contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor so we will help you with this issue.
Note: Please be careful. Never touch the sharp metal blade itself
- The bowl is cracked or broken. Please contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor so we will help you with this issue.
- There is a significant gap between the silicone nozzle on the outside of the steam reservoir and the bowl lid so some steam comes out, creating water drops along with casing. Replace the bowl if excessive amounts of water are escaping. However, some water droplets are normal. Please contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor to order parts.
- There is no nut on the knife blade. Reattach the nut. Correctly fasten the nut with the flat side in contact with the metal part of the bowl and turn the nut counter-clockwise. If your locking nut is missing, please contact us at [email protected] or contact your local distributor to order parts.

Advantages: Cooks quickly, no need to look after it, easy to clean
Disadvantages: After daily use, small cracks about 1 cm extend from the bottom of the bowl from the knife insertion hole, do not leak
Comment: I doubted between Phillips Avent and Beaba. I chose Beaba because of the presence of a strainer, the ability to purchase additional accessories (I bought a container for cooking cereals), the size of the bowl. The model with two bowls is very convenient, at the same time the main course (meat, vegetables) is cooked, and in the other bowl the dessert - apple, pear, etc. Very easy to clean, a maximum of a couple of minutes for both bowls.

ruWe started weaning at 4 months after being exposed to the enthusiasm of our friends and a free jar of carrot puree. Since mine has always been hungry and bottle-fed, it is normal to start at 4x. Dali and immediately went: colic, constipation.
Long doubted to continue or not. I read it on the forum and in the consultation they confirmed that it is better to continue but little by little and better cauliflower, zucchini and plum. So they continued, and somehow by 6 months she had already adapted and ate everything that was given.
I cook by myself with beaba babycook. Very good product, I use it twice a day. From 5 to 7 months she made purees, after 7 months in pieces. With a spoon or hands. From 6.5 she began to give bread in her hand. I give bread only spelt (spelt = Spelled - Wikipedia) or buckwheat or quinoa ( Quinoa - Wikipedia) or a mixture. With a minimum of salt, without millet and lactose. Even without teeth, she ate bread in pieces according to the raplay method. At first it seems to choke, but she back it, and chews it again. From the age of 7 months, I began to introduce biological meat (except pork), good chicken pieces, and white and then red fish, eggs, cottage cheese, yorurt. From 8 I began to introduce nut butters, coconut milk, rice and almond milk, Brussels sprouts, spinach, wittle, mushrooms, seasonings and spices. From 11 cow's milk but still I prefer nut or rice.
By the way, she eats everything and asks for more supplements. There is not a single food that she would not eat. We weigh Bella's weight and height: always in the middle of the graph. So I feed well. She is also a very active child.
I always cook without salt or sugar. I also carefully select existing products by ingredients.
Separately, about porridge: if I give it only in the morning and either several types at once, or spelled or oatmeal. I give biological porridges soluble in cold water, without additives and without millet - biobim. I make them with either cow's or almond/rice milk. I am not against cereals, but I think that even without cereals you can, for example, replace them with a glass of milk and a barley or buckwheat pancake with a banana or jam or almond paste.
As a snack I give:
- rice or cereal varieties (spelt/ quinoa) waffles without salt;
- oatmeal cookies (2 ground bananas, 5 tsp quick oat flakes, 2 tsp flaxseed. I spread it with a spoon on a baking sheet and 180 degrees for 20 minutes).
- casserole. 500g soft cottage cheese, 2 eggs, 100g spelled flour. If the shape is large then 60 min 180 degrees / 25 min 180 degrees
- raisins or dried fruits bio
- yogurt
I only drink water, Rooibos tea (Rooibos - Wikipedia), and steamed fruit water.
Since our bread is very good, I give bread for lunch with:
- butter / coconut oil
- almond paste (very healthy)
- sesame paste (not very tasty)
- apple paste (tasty and healthy)
- low salt cheese
- scrambled eggs with italian spices
- hummus
- avocado
- jam without sugar
- steamed dried fruits, for example, plums
