Does Walgreens accept EBT? This is a frequently asked question: 78% of Americans live within five miles of one of their stores. So, does Walgreens accept EBT cards in their stores?

Walgreens accepts EBT cards as a payment method in some locations but not others. Unfortunately, there is no online tool to see which of their stores accept EBT, so you will need to call your local store to check if they accept EBT or not.

Find a Walgreens near you that accepts EBT

Assistance is available to US citizens and certain eligible noncitizens. Having a Social Security number speeds up the state's application process.

Do you buy groceries from HMart? EBT cards are a great way to pay at stores that accept them as a payment method. But does HMart accept EBT cards?

This article answers the question "Does HMart accept EBT?", explains what items can be purchased with the EBT Card, covers WIC, TANF, and more.

What is HMart?

HMart is a Korean-American supermarket chain that offers the best of both worlds: a fully stocked Asian grocery store that also stocks a wide selection of Western products. They sell the freshest vegetables, beautiful fruits, general foods, packaged goods, meats, a wide variety of seafood, baked goods, dairy products, frozen foods and condiments. In addition to groceries, most HMarts also have a restaurant, a food hall, and sometimes even bakeries. They operate 84 grocery stores, operate in 14 states and employ 2,500 people.

HMart has grocery store addresses in Arizona, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.

If you've never been to HMart, you should check it out. Although they are best known as Korean or Asian stores, I like them best for their high quality fruits and vegetables, many of which are not found in other local stores. We stock kimchi, high quality fruits and vegetables you won't find anywhere else, and Melona ice cream bars whenever we shop there. After shopping at HMart, we always have a full fridge and pantry, plus it's fun to find out what's new in the aisles.

HMart has found it confusing whether they accept Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. That's because one of the top Google search results you see when you ask this question is on HMart.com, which says that HMart.com doesn't accept food stamps. While it is true that the HMart.com online store does not accept them, physical HMart stores accept food stamps / EBT . If an HMart employee is reading this, fix it! You've had this problem for years and it's wasting your customers and sales.

No wonder you can take advantage of EBT at HMart. This is because EBT cards receive Supplemental Food Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Because the SNAP program is nationwide and federal, all major grocery stores must accept EBT payments at their stores.

Tip: You can use the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to find other EBT stores. SNAP retailer search tool.

HMart grocery stores accept SNAP benefits. EBT and SNAP are the same programs that the USDA is running in partnership with your state's appropriate government agency.

TANF Cash Options

Does HMart accept WIC (Women, Infants and Children)?

If you are eligible for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, you might be wondering if HMart is participating in the WIC program?

The answer is no; HMart does not accept WIC.

Why is HMart not participating in the WIC program? This is because they are not approved for WIC. Therefore, if you have WIC benefits, you will need to use them at a grocery store that accepts them.

Generally, grocery stores must first apply for WIC and then must offer certain products to be eligible. If you want to use WIC benefits, it's always important to check if a store accepts WIC before you shop there. From time to time, stores that used to participate in the WIC program no longer accept it, so make sure they still accept it if you haven't shopped there in a while.

Eligible items with WIC
  • Flakes
  • eggs
  • Fruits and vegetables (frozen, fresh, dried or preserved)
  • Milk
  • Oatmeal
  • Peanut butter
  • yogurt
  • Whole grain bread
  • Whole wheat pasta
  • Baby food and formulas

Goods not eligible for WIC
  • Sodas
  • Diapers
  • Beverages not containing 100% juice
  • Imported cheese
  • Cheese spreads
  • Yogurts with sweets
  • Soups
  • fruit and nut mixtures

It is very important to check what you can and cannot buy with WIC or food stamps. For example, you can buy dairy products, but there are certain restrictions on what type of product you can buy.

For example, you can buy yogurt, but you can't buy yogurt with artificial sweeteners, candy, muesli, nuts, or servings per serving. It's a little tricky, so read your state's guide to WIC benefits before you shop at the grocery store.
