    Do I need a high chair? — advice from professionals

    April 27, 2021

    Now there are a lot of interesting things and items that make it easier for parents to care for a child. Children receive beautiful and comfortable things that provide comfort and safety. Great attention in the development of a variety of products and furniture for children is given to environmental safety and ergonomic design. Modern newly-made parents follow the news and are interested not only in the convenience and stylish design of goods.

    The main criterion for choosing goods for a child of any age is safety for health and comfort.

    What can families with young children not do without?

    These are three items:

    1. Comfortable stroller for walking.
    2. Baby crib with "correct" mattress.
    3. High chair.

    All of the listed items have one quality in common. And the stroller, and the crib, and high chairs for feeding babies must comply with the parameters, first of all, ensuring the correct position of the back and the formation of a healthy posture.

    Alternative ways to feed your baby

    Few options:

    • on your lap;
    • in a stroller;
    • in crib;
    • on the sofa;
    • on an adult stool, etc.

    All of the above options, according to experts, are not successful. They are not only inconvenient for parents and children, but also harm the health of babies!

    Why do I need a high chair? Pro Tips

    Quality children's furniture is created according to certain criteria and has the appropriate safety certificates. It should be not just beautiful, stylish and made from permitted natural materials. Of course, when the item fits well into any interior, it's good. And all the qualities listed above are mandatory for children's furniture. But there are still criteria for choosing the best chair for feeding.

    Good furniture for a child is a safe and functional item that meets a number of special requirements.

    According to orthopedists and pediatricians, the baby should be provided with a high-quality designer chair, which will allow to solve many problems at once from an early age:

  • create all conditions so that the musculoskeletal system / musculoskeletal system of the baby does not experience a negative impact, and the posture is formed correctly;
  • provide the child with a comfortable place not only for eating, but also for spending time, and later for doing school homework.
  • A very strong argument in favor of purchasing a special chair for feeding is the elimination of the risks of scoliosis and other pathologies of the spine, as well as the development of a number of concomitant diseases associated with curvature of the spinal column. And another important argument is saving money.

    Having bought a suitable chair with a set of adjustments, parents do not go shopping for furniture for their child after a short period of time, since the old chair no longer fits. Chairs of this thoughtful design are called “growing”.

    The difference between the "growing" chair and the usual

    A set of settings for the height of the seat, the depth and height of the footrest, as well as the height of the backrest, allows you to adapt the product at any time to the individual parameters of the baby.

    In this way, as the child grows, the necessary adjustments are made. This can be easily and quickly done at home without inviting the master.

    What is the best chair for feeding

    Parents are actively discussing the issue of feeding their children on the forums. Often, it is not possible to feed the baby quickly and without consequences (whims, scattered objects, etc.). Therefore, manufacturers of goods for children are trying to show their imagination and vying with each other to offer to buy bright children's dishes, intricate bibs and, of course, high chairs of different designs and colors.

    Top of the best chairs for feeding

    When studying the list of the best products, which was compiled based on many criteria, it turned out:

    Kuzya Pavlin (furniture factory "Drug Kuzya") is the undisputed market leader.

    On the official website of the manufacturer, you can get acquainted with the characteristics of the product and learn about its advantages.

    1. Made from natural materials.
    2. Coated with a safe water-based coating.
    3. The product is available in different colors.
    4. In addition to the set of settings, there are also additional accessories for the convenience of the child.

    Do I need a high chair?

    Parents' feedback is sometimes contradictory. Some mothers believe that a child can be fed in the crib, on her knees, and even seated in an adult chair. Other moms and dads think that a high chair is a must! In the latter case, according to well-known pediatricians, we are talking not just about caring mom and dad, but about competent parents who are interested in maintaining the health of the baby and shaping his correct posture.

    Children's table for feeding a child with their own hands

    With the advent of a new family member, each parent buys only high-quality clothes and toys for his baby. Parents have to buy a lot of things for their child, including children's furniture. Unfortunately, choosing something suitable is not always realistic: if the price is acceptable, then the quality does not live up to expectations. And when the quality of children's furniture meets all the requirements, the cost of such a high chair is too high. For the head of the family, who knows how to work with wood, making such furniture on his own will not be difficult. 9Ol000

  • Simplified highchair
  • Tables for feeding babies are different, in this article we will look at how to make a children's table transformer for feeding. This model is a hit with most parents. The main requirements for children's furniture are the choice of high-quality materials, safety and structural strength.

    What materials are needed

    Reliability and safety are the main things to consider not only when choosing finished furniture, but also if you decide to make something with your own hands. The table must be stable, the surface (tabletop, seat) and all other parts must be smooth, without cracks, bulges and other visible defects. Since you will have to work with natural material - wood, then the choice of the basis for the manufacture of children's furniture must be approached thoroughly. So, for children it is better to choose soft breeds: pine, spruce or linden. It is easy to work with such material, by the way, linden is more durable than softwood.

    Before proceeding with cutting blanks, it is necessary to carefully inspect each board and, just in case, treat the surface with fine-grained sandpaper.

    In addition to sandpaper, you need to prepare tools for woodworking: this is a standard set of carpentry tools, as well as fasteners (nails or self-tapping screws), plus choose a safe paint or varnish (pay attention to the packaging, we need varnish or paint marked "Non-toxic") . Acrylic paint will work too. Be prepared for the fact that your baby will not only use the furniture for eating, most likely, he will even try the tree “by the teeth”. So we approach the choice of finishing materials as responsibly as possible.

    Types of high chairs for children

    Reaching the age of six months, the child begins to show interest in food, parents increasingly take the baby to the table with them. The baby is not yet able to sit on a chair on his own, it’s hard to hold a grown-up little one in his arms, so the baby needs to be seated in a special table-chair. He will be comfortable and safe there. Mom doesn’t have to worry, her baby won’t fall, as different models of high chairs have latches - special straps that hold the fidget.

    The principle of children's furniture designed for feeding babies is the same - it is, as a rule, a universal design - the table can be made high so that the baby is at the same level with the parents at the table. It is more convenient for mom and dad to feed the baby. You can fold the chair, then the table will be on the same level with the chair. Parents also like this option, the child can be fed and left to sit at the table so that he can play a little.

    In stores you can see different versions of children's tables and chairs made of durable plastic, metal and wood. The principle is the same for everyone, only there are classic high chairs, and there are transformers. As the child grows, the chair can be used not only for feeding, but also for games and activities. The transforming chair is very practical and will help out parents from 6 months of age, up to the first grade.

    How to make a children's feeding table

    We offer to make your own universal table and high chair for feeding children, which can also be used as a school desk (when the baby grows up). For work, you need to prepare a wooden beam (section 40 x 20 cm), as well as solid boards (from 2 cm thick). In addition, you will also need a sheet of fiberboard (standard sizes).

    The beam is useful for cutting out the supporting parts for the manufacture of a high chair, rounded parts need to be cut out of the board (taking into account the handles for the high chair). We will make the seat from a fiberboard sheet (you need to cut the seat of the right size), as well as for the table. By the way, you can use other material for the table. A sheet of plywood, chipboard with a lamination effect or a classic - wood is suitable.

    When it is not possible to purchase all the necessary materials in the store, do not put off the idea of making a children's table for feeding for your beloved child. For work, you can use old boards (only so that they are not rotten), disassemble an old cabinet or chair. In any case, each owner will have at home not only the whole tool, but also the material. Only if you work with old materials, then pay more attention to the preparatory process - every detail needs to be carefully processed, smooth out all the bumps and remove the flaws.

    What you need to make a high chair:

    • for the legs you will need a wooden beam 40 cm long - 4 pcs.;
    • rounded parts need to be made 4 pcs.;
    • for the manufacture of crossbars, a beam is also suitable, 35 cm long - 2 pcs.;
    • for the top rails, cut the timber into 2 equal pieces, each 22 cm long - 2 pieces;
    • cross bars, size 30 cm - 3 pcs. ;
    • worktop (size according to the drawing) — 1 pc.

    To make a table, prepare the following:

    • for legs - wooden beam (length 50 cm) - 4 pcs.;
    • planks - 40-41 cm - 4 pcs.;
    • transverse strips - 35 cm each - 4 pcs.;
    • countertop (dimensions 38 x 45 cm) - 1 pc.

    How to make parts

    Preparatory work - the most difficult and painstaking, not tolerating fuss. So let's be patient and let's get started. In order to cut out the details of the desired size, you will need to saw a wooden beam. Without exception, all details must be processed with sandpaper.

    To get rounded parts, you must first transfer the drawing with a pencil to the board and, according to the diagram, carefully cut out all the parts according to the markup.

    Attention! In order for all parts to be strong, it is necessary that the wood fibers be perpendicular to the corners of the rounding.

    It is necessary to connect the cut-out parts with fasteners and additionally treat all places with furniture glue.

    If you use dowels (furniture "chops" made of wood) as fasteners, then first you need to drill holes in the tree for them, a recess of 3-4 cm.

    Side assembly

    First you need to assemble the right side part (or the left one, it doesn't matter). Prepare the following details:

    • roundings - 2 pcs.;
    • legs - 2 pcs.;
    • crossbar (lower and upper).

    First, you need to prepare the connecting elements (wooden dowels) and coat the fasteners with glue, as well as the holes. Assemble the legs and connect to the lower crossbar of the chair. Check the result of the work, you can use the construction corner. It is very important that the angles are the same (90 about C).

    Now we assemble the upper crossbar: we connect it with two roundings, coat it with glue. We are waiting for him to grab in order to continue work. It is enough to wait only 30-40 minutes, and then tighten the finished structure with a clamp. Leave the workpiece for at least a day to dry the tree.

    We assemble the second sidewall in the same way. Do not forget to process the sides of the chair with sandpaper (at the initial stage when preparing the details).

    Assembling the seat and backrest

    Prepare 6 identical parts (can be cut from chipboard), dimensions 30 x 25 cm. Round off the corners (two) so that the radius is 0.5 cm. The ends of each workpiece must be cleaned so that they are smooth. Take 3 identical parts, coat each well with glue, connect and place any heavy object on top. We need the blanks to be firmly connected to each other. We made a seat.

    Now the back - cut out the desired workpiece and fasten it to the seat with screws and corners.

    Assembling chair

    Finished sides to be connected with planks (length 30 cm). In order not to get confused, you need to make marks with a simple pencil and drill holes for fasteners (furniture dowels).

    Now the planks: they also need to drill holes (4 pcs. ), And in the bar that holds the back of the chair, also make the same number of holes (2 pcs. at the end and 2 in the bar that needs to be attached to the back).

    You will need to make 2 holes in the side pieces to fix the bar and back, and 2 more to attach the top.

    Do not rush to put everything together completely and coat with glue - first do a control assembly to see if you have assembled everything correctly. If everything is correct, there are no distortions, then you can put all the details on furniture glue. Wait until the glue dries. And only after that you can finally sand the surface, and then apply a layer of paint or varnish.

    Table assembly

    Now you need to assemble one more part of the transformer table - assemble the table. To do this, you need to connect the legs to the lower and upper bar. The length of each plank is 41 cm. The side parts must be fixed with the help of transverse planks (the length of each plank is 34 cm). On the right or left side, you need to install and screw the tabletop.

    Now you need to do the same and assemble the right side of the table, designate a place for fasteners, drill a hole to insert wooden plugs.

    It remains to assemble the remaining parts, check each corner for the strength of the connection, and only after that you can coat each part with glue. Then you can start assembling the side parts. To do this, fix these parts with transverse strips so that they are located towards each other. That's it, you can insert the table top, and then go over the entire surface of the table with an emery cloth. Now it remains to varnish this part of the children's furniture - a table for feeding.

    This, perhaps, is all, but there are some nuances. We ourselves love to have breakfast, lunch and dinner as comfortably as possible. This applies to seating - adults choose a kitchenette or stool with a soft seat. For the child, you will also need to sew a soft seat. To do this, you need to cut out a square of the same size from the foam rubber as the seat of the chair, cover the foam rubber with a soft cloth, and best of all, with artificial leather, so that caring for children's furniture does not take much time. If there is no foam rubber, fold the synthetic winterizer in several layers, wrap it with a dense fabric and fix the edges on the inside of the chair with a furniture stapler.

    Wooden children's table for feeding is ready, you can put the baby and feed it with delicious porridge.

    We offer you to watch this video to learn more about the stages of creating a highchair:

    Simplified highchair

    What to do if it is not possible to make a full-fledged wooden highchair for feeding a child on your own? You should not despair, to make this option on your own is within the power of every mom. Let's sew together a baby feeder out of fabric. The cost of such a simple, at first glance, soft chair in children's stores is quite high, but we will try to sew it ourselves. Such a soft chair will help out at a party, transport and travel.

    Externally, the design is quite simple - it is a soft case with holes and straps. It is put on a standard chair with a high back and fixed with fasteners.

    The scheme of this uncomplicated device is quite simple: only 2 parts - this is a cover for a chair with a so-called pocket and two holes - to put a child inside.

    What you need to prepare for work:

    • thick fabric. Cotton will do, you can take old jeans or a linen shirt. Prepare 2 m of fabric;
    • strong braid - 3 m;
    • carabiners-buckles - 3 pcs.

    You will also need needles, thread, scissors, a measuring tape, a pencil and a sewing machine.

    Study the fabric cutting pattern again. The width of the pocket in which the child will sit should be equal to the width of the back of the chair.
