The cover can be called the main component of such a piece of furniture.

After all, it is on him that the baby sits, and it is on him that the mood of the child, his state of health, and, accordingly, his appetite largely depend. Many chairs are equipped with oilcloth covers, in contact with which the baby's skin can be irritated and flaky. How to find a way out of such a situation? The modern textile industry offers a large selection of fabrics made from natural raw materials and ideal for contact with the delicate skin of the baby. If your child is allergic or does not like to sit on oilcloth, if the old cover on the highchair has become unusable and you want to update it, buy the right fabric and try to sew the cover. Preparation for cutting

Cover pattern.

To make the cover as comfortable as possible, it is better to make it from 3 layers of fabric. Rigid fabric is suitable for the bottom layer, which will serve as a strong base for the whole structure. The layer is made of synthetic winterizer or siliconized synthetic winterizer, which will give the seat softness. The front part of the chair must be made of soft natural fabric, which will be safe in contact with the child's body. nine0003
If you feel confident and said to yourself: "I will sew a comfortable cover for my baby's high chair", prepare the following necessary materials and tools:
1. Cotton, cotton fabric for the top layer.
2. Synthetic winterizer for interlayer.
3. Rigid cotton or cotton + synthetic fabric for the bottom layer.
4. Tailor's scissors.
5. Chalk.
6. Pins.
7. Threads.
8. Needle.
9. Paper or interlining without adhesive base for patterns.
10. Pencil.
11. Sewing machine.
Having decided to sew a cover, you need to have an idea of how the future product should turn out. The most comfortable, in order to feed a child, look like covers fastened with special pockets to the upper part of the back of the chair and armrests. The easiest way to sew a case and create a pattern for it is to make a template from an old case. This is done as follows:

Straps are threaded through the holes in the cover to prevent the child from falling.
1. Remove the old cover from the chair.
2. Flatten all parts and lay on the floor.
3. Attach paper or interlining to the structure and trace its contours with a pencil. Get a cover pattern.
4. On the pattern, mark where the stitches will go. You can cut them with scissors. These holes are useful when marking parts for stitching. nine0330
5. You also need to mark the slots for the seat belts. To do this, the cover is inserted into the chair. The pattern must be placed on top and pressed, giving it the shape of a chair. Places of cuts and bends are marked on the pattern.

Cutting and sewing

When the cover pattern is ready, you can start cutting the product. First, cut out the lining and pockets, for which a stiff cotton or synthetic blend is used. With the help of pockets, the cover will be worn on the back and armrests of the highchair. To make pockets, cut out 3 parts according to the pattern: the upper part of the back of the cover and 2 sides. When cutting, do not forget to make a seam allowance from the contour of the pattern about 1 cm wide.

When the pockets are ready, the bottom part of the pockets, which they will be put on the high chair, should be folded over by 1 cm and stitched. After that, the pockets should be placed on the front side of the lining fabric with a stitch down and sewn to it with a sewing machine.

The lining is then placed with the right side of the fabric on the well-ironed and evenly laid out material from which the outer part of the cover will be made. Two layers of material should be chipped with pins and basted. Only then can you cut out a piece of soft fabric. Such actions will avoid distortion of the fabric and, accordingly, the entire product as a whole. nine0003
Next, the resulting design with the wrong side of the lining is superimposed on the synthetic winterizer layer, fixed with pins, basted and cut out. Then all the parts fastened together are sewn around the perimeter on a sewing machine. At the bottom of the future product, it is necessary to leave a hole large enough to turn the cover inside out.

The basting made earlier is removed from the stitched parts, then the product is turned inside out so that the synthetic winterizer layer remains inside, between the layers of the lining and the front material. The resulting design should be laid on a table or floor and a pattern should be laid out on it, on the basis of which stitch markings are applied to the material in small pieces. All marked stitch lines are first sewn, then sewn on a sewing machine. nine0003

Additional steps

Highchair cover almost ready. The next step is to remove the hole through which the product was everted. It is best to close it with a blind stitch, but if you are not an experienced seamstress and do not know how to do this, you can sew up the hole in any way you know.
