9 Best Booster Seats for Eating (2022 Reviews)

[intro]

Booster seat high chairs are great space savers and are easy to travel with. But some models are not as safe or stable as they could be, and others are highly overpriced.

The Best Booster Seats for Eating of 2022

Here are the top booster seat high chairs currently on the market.

1. Ingenuity SmartClean Toddler Booster Seat

Best Toddler Booster Seat for Table

Your little toddler has become independent, but they’re certainly not done growing. This seat takes that into account and adds either two inches (without the foam insert) or four inches (with the foam insert) to your child’s height, allowing them to comfortably reach the table at any size.

Since your big kid wants to eat at the table anyway, they don’t need a tray, which means there aren’t extra crevices for food to get stuck in. That makes clean-up a breeze since you can either wipe down the padding or toss it in the dishwasher.

Pros
  • It has variable height options (2 or 4 inches).
  • It’s BPA-free.
  • Small and portable, making it great for smaller homes.
  • The foam insert is dishwasher safe.
Cons
  • The foam insert is not affixed to the chair and may move around.
  • Some reviewers remarked that food consistently got stuck under the padding.
  • Not useful for younger babies.

2. Oxo Tot Nest Booster Seat with Straps

Easiest to Clean

View on BedBath&Beyond

A booster seat that’s easy to clean won’t have trays, crevices, or corners. This fits the bill with its smooth, easy-to-wipe surface that leaves few spots available for your little one to stash their leftovers.

It has an adjustable three-point harness and a strap to secure it to your dining room chair. The non-slip feet keep it safely atop the chair and prevent it from damaging your furniture.

Its high back and sides give your child added security as they sit in their big-kid seat.

Pros
  • It’s super easy to clean.
  • It has a three-point harness for extra security.
  • Choose from three different colors.
  • High back and sides are great for little escape artists or kids who wriggle.
Cons
  • It doesn’t have a tray.
  • It doesn’t recline.
  • One of the more expensive options.

3. Ingenuity™ Baby 2-in-1 Booster Seat

Best Booster Seat with a Tray

Having a feeding tray is helpful — and this seat gives you the option to use it or stash it. Not only does the tray come with a cup holder, but it also gives you a perfect storage compartment for the tray should your little one decide they don’t want to use it anymore.

There will be no further need to find a place to store the tray when you’re not using it, and you’ll have no problem remembering where you put it when you want it back.

The seat itself is made of soft and easy-to-clean foam that you can remove as your baby grows and their chubby little thighs need more room.

And even though it doesn’t have a recline function, it’s designed in a way that helps position babies upright even if they’re not quite able to sit unsupported. While not appropriate for newborns, you can still use it with small babies.

Pros
  • It has a self-storing tray.
  • Can be used with or without the foam insert, depending on baby’s size.
  • Appropriate for younger babies.
  • Can carry up to 50-pound.
Cons
  • The tray is on the smaller side.
  • It doesn’t have a five-point harness.
  • The tray is on a smaller side.

Mealtime is special, no matter your age. Help your child feel comfortable and confident with this cushioned booster seat.

Designed for children 15 months and up, this booster seat is simple, compact, and easy to clean. Instead of having a thin pad for your child to sit on, it has a thick, three-inch cushion built in. It’s soft enough to keep your child comfy but sturdy enough to give them the boost they need so they don’t sink down.

Our favorite part is the stain-resistant fabric. You may think the comfier the material, the more it absorbs, but you can easily wipe down the fabric of this cushion with a damp sponge. The entire cushion is also removable.

Another important feature is the three-point harness system with easy-to-adjust safety straps. They’ll keep your child secure with plenty of freedom of movement in their upper body to keep them smiling and happy.

Pros
  • Comfortable three-inch cushion will help your child stay seated for long periods.
  • The entire booster seat is easy to wipe down.
Cons
  • If your child is especially squirmy, this may give them a bit too much room to wiggle around in.

5. Fisher-Price Healthy Care Booster Seat

Grows with Your Baby

Check Price

Children grow quickly, and sometimes it’s hard for moms to keep up! We love when baby gear grows with your child to help them through life’s transitions. It makes things so much easier for everyone.

This booster seat is such a product. With an easy-to-remove tray, you can use it for years. Keep the tray attached while your child is young and use it as a more traditional high chair, then remove it when your little one is ready to eat at the table.

Along with the removable backrest and adjustable tray, you can ensure your child fits comfortably through all stages of life.

All surfaces are smooth, and you won’t find any crevices, so the entire thing is easy to wipe down after meals. If you’re in a smaller living space, this booster seat is a great space-saving option!

Pros
  • Features a removable tray and back so you can transform it from a high chair to a booster seat.
  • There aren’t any crevices for food to get trapped in.
  • Lightweight plastic is super easy to wipe down.
Cons
  • Because the entire thing is plastic, it may not be as comfortable for long meals.

6.

Prince Lionheart Squish Booster Seat
Best Booster Chair for Restaurants

Check Price

Going to a restaurant can be a special treat, but once you have children, it can feel like a circus every time you go out. While many places have booster seats or high chairs for children, they aren’t perfect. If you’re able to find an available booster seat, they are often filthy or have less-than-ideal safety straps (or none at all).

Make eating out simple with this ultra-portable and versatile booster seat. Weighing around 1.6 pounds, you can carry this booster seat with one hand. Keep it in the trunk of your car so you’re always prepared.

One reason this booster seat works well at restaurants is because of the rigid base. It’s designed to fit the contours of most chairs, and the non-slip feet on the base means you can place it securely on any surface.

Other features include a waterproof and scratch-resistant finish and a three-point adjustable harness system.

Pros
  • Waterproof and scratch-resistant.
  • No-slip feet keep the booster seat secure.
  • Very lightweight.
Cons
  • Safety straps are easy to unfasten — even for industrious toddlers.

7. Munchkin Protect Booster Chair Cover

Best Seat Protector

Check Price

Many booster seats are easy to clean, but what about the chair you put them on? They’re often forgotten, and you’re left cleaning up your nice chairs once the booster seat comes off. Save yourself time and frustration with this special chair cover.

It’s made of an extremely durable “grime guard” fabric and is placed directly over the seat of your chair. Not only does it protect against food, but it also protects against scratching, which is important if you’ve got a nice set of wood dining room chairs. Traction pads on the bottom keep it firmly in place and help prevent the booster chair from slipping.

We really appreciate that this cover is machine washable. If it weren’t, you’d wind up with something else to clean, but you can throw the entire thing in the washing machine when it’s time.

If you’ve got a booster seat already but are struggling to keep your chairs clean, this is a good option.

Pros
  • Fits most dining chairs, so you can use it everywhere.
  • Keeps the booster seat secure while preventing messes.
  • Machine washable for quick cleanup.
Cons
  • It doesn’t come with its own set of straps, so you’ll need an actual booster seat to secure it.

8. Hiccapop Omniboost Booster Seat

Best Booster Seat for Small Babies

Check Price

This seat has all the features of a full-sized high chair with the footprint of a booster seat.

It’s designed to let your baby sit at the table with you from the very beginning of their feeding journey. It grows with them, converting to a simple booster seat when your little one is ready.

Non-skid duck feet are available for added stability on uneven surfaces, thereby ensuring your infant’s safety. Moreover, the tray is dishwasher-safe for easy clean-up.

It has a three-point harness with a one-hand release, making it easy to quickly remove your child if necessary.

Pros
  • Eliminates the need for an additional high chair.
  • Secure three-point harness.
  • Dishwasher-safe feeding tray.
  • Lifetime guarantee.
Cons
  • A bit pricy.

9. Summer Pop ‘n Sit Portable Booster Chair

Best Portable Booster Seat

Check Price

This ingenious seat is so small that you can leave it in your trunk for spontaneous restaurant trips, dinners with friends, or impromptu playdates.

Designed specifically for travel, it comes with a carrying handle and storage pockets on the back so you can store extra wipes for emergency cleaning.

And since the Summer brand knows how good kids are at making mealtime messes, they made the seat with a BPA-free detachable tray that is dishwasher safe.

Pros
  • Fully collapsible.
  • It has a three-point harness.
  • Designed for travel and can be used both indoors and outdoors.
Cons
  • Lower weight limit.
  • With four feet instead of a solid base, it can be unstable on surfaces that aren’t flat.

What is a Booster Seat High Chair?

Once your baby or toddler is ready to eat solid foods, you may question if you need a full-sized high chair or if a smaller booster seat will do the job just a well. A booster seat high chair is a child seat that sits on top of your regular dining room chair. It functions much like a high chair in that it provides a safe and secure seat for your child to sit in and raises their height to table level.

However, while a high chair is a separate apparatus and cannot be pulled all the way up to the table, a booster seat allows your child to sit directly at the table with the rest of the family.

This type of booster seat should not be confused with car seats for older children, which are also commonly referred to as “booster seats.

Why Choose a Booster Seat High Chair?

Booster seat high chairs offer many benefits over traditional high chairs. Some are even designed for use with small babies, making the additional purchase of a full-sized high chair completely unnecessary.

Some reasons to consider a booster seat are:

  • They allow your child to sit at the table instead of apart from the rest of the family.
  • They allow your child to continue to be secured to the seat during snack and meal times, preventing falls and injury.
  • They’re generally cheaper than high chairs.
  • They take up less space than high chairs.
  • They’re portable.
  • Some can double as an activity seat and be placed on the floor while putting toys on the tray.

How to Choose a Booster Chair

When choosing a booster chair, it’s important to evaluate several factors and choose the one that best fits your needs. Here are some things to consider:

Adjustable Back

If you plan for a small baby to sit in the booster seat, you’ll need one with a back that you can adjust to recline slightly to offer them support. If it’ll be exclusively used with toddlers and older children, a rigid back (or no back at all) is appropriate.

Chair Strap

Choose a booster seat that secures to your dining chair with at least one adjustable strap that you can pull tight for a secure fit.

Child Strap

Determine whether you need a five-point harness or lap belt. A five-point harness is the safest option for small babies, while a three-point harness or lap belt should provide enough support for most toddlers.

Portable

If you plan to travel with the seat, choose one that takes up minimal space. It should easily fold down to fit in your vehicle and should be relatively lightweight.

Easy to Clean

Let’s be honest — babies are messy. You don’t want a high chair that’s difficult to clean. Choose a booster seat made from plastic and without crevices where food can get stuck.

Tray

Some booster chairs come with trays so they can function as a high chair, while others don’t. Decide if your seat needs an attached tray (for either eating or playtime) or whether its only function will be giving your child a needed “boost.”

Can My Infant Use a Booster Seat?

Originally, booster seats were designed for toddlers and older children who weren’t quite big enough to reach the table while sitting in a regular chair. However, many current booster seats are designed with babies in mind.

Booster seats that are appropriate for babies have an adjustable back. Unlike toddlers, babies don’t have very good head and neck control, or enough core strength to sit upright for long periods of time. A rigid, upright back on a booster will cause them to either slump forward (hitting their head on the tray or table) or sideways (causing a potential falling hazard).

Remember

If you intend to use a booster seat as a space-saving alternative to a high chair, make sure you choose one that has an adjustable back that you can recline slightly so your infant can sit safely and comfortably.

Booster Seat Safety

When considering a high chair or booster seat for your child, safety should be your top concern. In fact, in the U.S., one child is rushed to the hospital every hour due to a high chair-related injury, the vast majority of which are falls (1). Thankfully, most booster seat models offer several methods of securing your child.

First, they attach to your chair with one or two adjustable straps. Usually, one will wrap around the back of the chair, and another will reach underneath. This two-strap method of securing the seat virtually eliminates the possibility of the seat slipping off your dining room chair.

Second, they also secure your child. Some (primarily designed for younger babies) have a five-point harness system similar to what you would find in a car seat. Others (for toddlers and older children) have a lap belt to keep them from toppling out of the seat.

Choose a harness-style seat if you have a small baby, a mini Houdini, or a child who likes to stand up in their high chair.

A lap belt is appropriate for older babies with good head and neck control and for toddlers who are old enough to follow simple commands such as “sit down.”

Keep In Mind

When using a booster seat, you also need to consider the construction of the chair on which it’s affixed to make sure it’s safe. Inspect the chair for weaknesses, and choose one that has a wide base. The wider the base, the less likely the chair will topple.

One strap not removable

Don't let the basic appearance of the Prince Lionheart SQUISH fool you; this table booster seat is a top-notch favorite for many reasons. It is speedy and straightforward to install. It is also easy to clean compared to others due to its material and one-piece design with no nooks and crannies for crumbs to hide. Honestly, we would be happy to clean this booster any day! The seat is comfortable enough for mealtime and snacks, and without a center crotch post, children's legs of varying sizes have plenty of space (even those adorable chunky thighs). We also appreciate Prince Lionheart's lightweight design for travel. You can bring this option on the road without feeling like you're carrying bricks.

Since children can be messy eaters, there's no doubt that buckles and straps collect grime, and we very much appreciate contenders with removable straps to make the cleaning process more manageable. Unfortunately, this seat has a crotch strap that isn't detachable, reducing its cleaning score. However, the booster's simplistic design is one of the easiest to clean, and this alone makes up for the loss. Besides that, we consider this affordable option pretty much a home run. If it meets your child's age range, we think it is one to consider.

Crumbs may collect

The OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat is a durable contender with one of the most extended usage ranges. It accommodates children from 9 months to 50 pounds, and once you finish using the three-point harness straps, you can conveniently store them in a compartment under the seat. Children are well supported and comfortable in this seat, thanks to its high back and sides, padded foam insert, and ample legroom with no center crotch post. After each meal, clean the booster by wiping down the seat's lift-out cushion and smooth, plastic seat.

The foam insert does not catch all food crumbs, and some find their way into nooks and crannies underneath. Therefore, we recommend frequently inspecting under the lift-out cushion to ensure a clean booster seat. If you're looking for a well-rounded winner that offers support for a younger eater, this option may meet your needs.

Thanks to multiple extras, the Fisher-Price Deluxe Booster Seat is a convenient option. You could consider this seat an all-in-one product. It has three height settings adjustable to accommodate dining chairs and tables of varying heights or adjustments as your child grows. Thanks to its design with minimal crevices for food to hide, the entire product is relatively easy to clean, and the seat's hard plastic material is quick to wipe down. This booster includes a dishwasher-safe feeding tray, and, for a bonus, the chair's back folds down for convenient travel and storage.

Hard plastic may not be as comfortable as contenders with foam inserts, but if this is something you don't mind, we think this option is wallet-friendly and offers extras that may make mealtime more enjoyable for you and your little one.

The Ingenuity Baby Base is a grow-with-me chair that will last for years. Once your child can sit unaided (minimum six months of age), you can begin to use this booster. The foam insert can be used during the younger years and then removed when your child no longer needs it or fits. You can use it on the floor as a tot chair or strapped to a chair in booster mode, and the seat includes a stowaway tray. The booster seat is easily wiped clean with a damp cloth. Although the feeding tray is dishwasher-safe, we suggest hand washing it to extend its longevity, and the straps can be machine washed when a more serious cleaning is needed.

This versatile chair is not the most convenient option for portability. It will work in a pinch if you need something to bring to grandma's house, but given its weight and dimensions, the product is somewhat bulky compared to other products in our lineup. Also, the position of the crotch strap is placed directly behind the center crotch post, making it a little tricky to access if a baby is already seated. If you're looking for a chair to use at home, the Baby Base is a good-quality chair that will last through multiple childhood stages.

Warning: For your child's safety, you must read and follow the manufacturer's user manual. Pay close attention to age and weight recommendations and limits, the required dimensions of the adult chair that you'll fasten the table booster seat, and other safety precautions. Be aware that boosting children could increase their ability to push on the table with their feet, leading to tipping chairs and possible injuries.

Why You Should Trust Us

Led by a pediatrician and mother of two, the BabyGearLab team has been testing gear since 2013 and holds incredible experience and knowledge. Conducting this review is Molly Bradac, Senior Review Editor, and Nanny with over 15 years of experience. She has used various baby-related products over her career, including table booster seats. Therefore, there's no doubt that Molly is the perfect expert to guide your search.

We purchased each product in our review, and each contender experienced hands-on testing and a side-by-side comparison to evaluate performance. To narrow down the competition and identify the top performers took lots of research, testing, and side-by-side comparing.

All products in our lineup feature an adjustable three-point harness.Boosters vary in usage ages. Consider your child's age and needs, as these details will likely help narrow down the options. Not all boosters in our lineup include a tray, but the Ingenuity Baby Base does.

Analysis and Test Results

We lined up the contenders for side-by-side comparisons and hands-on testing. Since we believe a top-notch product should be easy to use for parents and comfortable for children, we kept these critical factors in mind during testing. During our evaluation, we also looked for any design flaws or hindrances and pros that influence a table booster seat's overall performance.

Value

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, the Prince Lionheart SQUISH is hands-down the best deal, plus the product's overall score is high compared to other contenders in the competition. Another wallet-friendly option is the Fisher-Price Deluxe Booster Seat. This booster offers multiple extras (height adjustability, tray, and foldability). In contrast, other contenders in our lineup don't provide these perks. If price is not a limiting factor and you plan on using a product for the long haul, consider the Ingenuity Baby Base. This versatile option grows with your child, and it includes a stowaway tray.

The Chicco Pocket Booster Seat is height adjustable (offering three height levels). The mechanism to adjust the booster's height is located under the seat. The Ingenuity Baby Base has some attractive elements, including a seat design that accommodates younger users, a stowaway tray for convenient storage, and foam inserts to amp up the comfort.

Ease of Use

A table booster seat should be easy to use; otherwise, you'll be more likely to keep your child on your lap during mealtime or skip assistance altogether. Plus, you'll breathe a sigh of relief using an easy and quick option to install. Who needs extra fuss, right? Therefore, while scoring this metric, we evaluated a booster seat's level of difficulty to install and ability to make strap and harness adjustments.

A couple of contenders that rise to the top in the ease of use metric include the Prince Lionheart SQUISH and the OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat. Both options have straps that are easy to pull, adjust, and tighten. The Skip Hop Zoo Booster Seat is also easy to install; however, adjusting the straps takes slightly more effort than the products mentioned above, but the overall task is still easier than other contenders in our lineup. And once in place, we were able to achieve a sturdy installation.

Despite some effort to adjust straps, installing the Skip Hop Zoo Booster Seat was fairly easy. The Prince Lionheart SQUISH was one of the easiest and quickest boosters to install.

We struggled the most with the Ingenuity Baby Base as it does not offer pull straps. Instead, you have to adjust and shorten straps before buckling, which can be tricky. It takes effort and muscle to buckle a tight strap. Also, the OXO Tot Perch with Straps did not score well in this metric. The installation process was not as quick or straightforward. Access to the straps is under the seat cushion, and if you need to make further adjustments while your child is eating, you'll need to remove them to lift the seat. We also struggled to get a tight fit, and it took longer than other options.

The Fisher-Price booster is loaded with extras that we think are worth the cost.

Credit: Abriah Wofford

Of course, one perk of using a table booster seat is bringing your little one closer to the table action so they can eat with the family. However, depending on the chosen chair, the height of the table, and your child's height, the booster may come just short of the actual table height or be too tall, not allowing enough space for a toddler's legs. Having an adjustable height feature can increase the chances of compatibility. The Fisher-Price Deluxe Booster Seat and Chicco Pocket Booster Seat offer very useful height adjustability, which will be handy if you regularly dine at various locations with different chairs and tables.

The Chicco Pocket Booster Seat offers three height settings to accommodate growing children and tables of differing levels.

Credit: Abriah Wofford

A table booster seat may not collapse or fold down. Still, a few contenders in our lineup offer this ability, including the Chicco Pocket Booster Seat, Fisher-Price Deluxe Booster Seat, and OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat. The Prince Lionheart SQUISH does not fold, but it is incredibly lightweight, making it portable for family road trips. These seats are not incredibly space-saving, nor did they earn extra marks for being more portable; we think shedding some light on their ability may be helpful for those who value travel-friendly products.

The Ingenuity Baby Base is comfortable and supportive, especially for younger users; however, the middle horn can limit leg space, which may become an issue for older children or those with adorable chunky thighs.

Child Comfort

Considering how often your child will be sitting in a table booster seat for mealtimes and snacks, it is important to consider comfort. While scoring this metric, we took a look at the seat's design, material, and quality. We also asked ourselves: Is the seat comfortable? Do you need to reposition your child regularly? Does the tray squish body parts? Is there enough legroom?

The OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat excels in this metric, thanks to its foam insert that offers enough padding and no center crotch post to limit legroom for children of varying sizes. It also has a high back and sides to provide support. The Prince Lionheart SQUISH was also a well-loved option among testers, providing enough lift and space. The Chicco Pocket Booster Seat ranks low in this metric. We think it offers the bare minimum, and the hard plastic is also not welcoming for children to sit and relax while eating.

The Prince Lionheart SQUISH is hands-down one of the easiest to clean, thanks to its one-piece design.

Ease of Cleaning

Children are messy eaters, and there's not much you can do about it. However, we suggest selecting a booster with a design that is easy to keep tidy and clean for your sanity. We compared and evaluated each contender's design to rank the competition in this metric. One-piece construction with minimal nooks and crannies for food and grime to hide ranks higher than boosters with multiple parts. Also, since straps can get dirty and stain, a good cleaning may be necessary, and we gave bonus points to seats with removable straps as this can help the cleaning process.

All contenders have removable straps, except for the Prince Lionheart SQUISH as it has a crotch strap that doesn't disconnect, which slightly lowered its score. However, this option is of one-piece construction and one of the easiest to clean among the competition, causing it to remain in good standing. The Ingenuity Baby Base and OXO Tot Perch with Straps did not score as well in this metric, mainly due to more areas for liquid and crumbs to hide. Regardless of which product you select, read the user manual's care instructions for cleaning details as manufacturers can differ in guidance, and there's no right way across the products.

Tip: It is best to wipe your booster down after each use to keep your child's booster seat in good condition and clean.

Important Safety Note

For your child's safety, you'll need to stay close by while they're in a table booster seat attached to a chair. There is always the potential for kids to push against the table and cause the chair to tip backward. This potential is even more likely if you have a particularly wiggly or rambunctious child.

The OXO Tot Perch with Straps boosts children ages 15 months to 70lbs. Unfortunately, access to the chair straps is under the seat cushion, which is inconvenient if you need to make adjustments mid-meal.

Conclusion

Graduating from a high chair to a table booster seat can be an exciting moment for little ones. It marks a transition from a high chair to the "Grown-up" table. Selecting the best booster for your child will depend on many factors, including how often you will use it, ease of use, cleaning, budget, and more. We are confident our review will aid your decision-making and narrow down the options so you can find the best choice for your table, family, and soon-to-be mini adult.

Booster Chair

Modern mothers choose mobility, so they prefer to travel with their baby. But in order for your baby to have a joyful trip, it is important to provide him with maximum comfort. A travel booster chair will help you with this. It is convenient to take it with you to the sea, to a restaurant or cafe, if you are going to sit with friends, or to visit. After all, the baby is still not quite neat while eating, so this accessory will save you from unnecessary problems.

What is a booster chair?

Buying such children's furniture will cost a lot, so before going to the store, be sure to weigh everything. Let's highlight the main features of the booster chair:

  1. It is attached directly to an ordinary adult chair using special fasteners. With a certain skill, this is done in a couple of seconds. The chair also folds very quickly.
  2. This children's furniture is very compact and lightweight. You can use the booster for feeding a child from 6 months to 4 years, until the baby's weight exceeds 15 kg.
  3. The seat of the chair has a high orthopedic back, which contributes to the formation of the correct posture for your child. A wide leg opening will allow the baby to feel comfortable, even if lunch or dinner is delayed.
  4. Each high chair is equipped with secure seat belts. This is very convenient on the road, because mom can accidentally get distracted and lose sight of the little fidget.
  5. The food tray in the booster highchair has three positions. Thus, he will, as it were, “grow up” with your child. You can attach bright toys to this product, so it will not be difficult to interest your child while eating. The chair itself also looks quite colorful: the baby will surely enjoy eating in it.
  6. The chair is made of environmentally friendly and durable materials, it is very convenient to wash and put in order.

The question of what to feed the child came to me again when my daughter was two years old. At first we had a chair from an Italian company, but it turned out to be too bulky for our twelve-meter kitchen. As soon as the need for a lying position and a swing disappeared (and we used this function three times at most), I replaced it with a high chair from a Swedish company. The representative of Scandinavia arranged in many ways, but it was extremely inconvenient to put a child in it. But he took up less space in the kitchen, looked airy, and it was easy to clean under him.

For some time my daughter ate normally in the highchair, but then flatly refused to sit there. She got out, got up and in every possible way sabotaged being in it. It was no longer safe. The downside of the chair was that it did not have a footboard, because of this, the daughter dangled her legs, which distracted her from eating very much. And most importantly, the child could not climb into it on his own. I realized that I had to look for an alternative. I was even ready to go back to the big chair for feeding, but now her knees rested on the table, so the idea was abandoned. The daughter could no longer sit in a highchair, but she was not old enough to use adult furniture. I tried to make her dine with us at the table without any devices, but she was uncomfortable, she often ran away to the toys, and then returned back. This situation had to be changed, as the meal sometimes dragged on for two hours.

I went through many options: from a high chair for children (it looked like a bar stool, it was needed, in fact, for 1 year, and the price is high) to a soft pad under the buttocks. It cost a lot, cleaning up in case of an accident caused additional difficulties, so I also abandoned this idea.

As an alternative, I considered a "growing" chair - fortunately, there are plenty of them in stores. But I found reviews of parents on the net that the bolts of this option have to be constantly tightened, and if you don’t keep track, the child will fall. As they wrote on the Internet, the problems began after the first change in the height of the chair. There were also complaints about poorly sanded wood.

Sometimes, when I run out of ideas, I go to a used clothing site to see how other parents are getting out of a similar situation. I'm not the only one with such a problem. I found an ad that offered to buy a plastic chair booster. I spied on a company and ordered such an accessory in one network selling children's goods. On the second day, this device was brought to us.

The booster is made of blown plastic with stiffening ribs inside and a rubber seal on the bottom so that it does not slide on the chair. In addition, he has an additional belt with which he is attached to the chair. To protect the furniture from unnecessary scuffs, I laid an anti-slip plastic mat on it. Thus, cleaning the booster and chair takes little time, even if the child spills something. The height is optimal for planting a baby at a common table. This purchase is even more necessary when the second child grows up in the family: the youngest one has a highchair for feeding, and the eldest, as an adult, sits at the table.

At first, the daughter protested, but over time she appreciated the convenience of the booster and now runs away from the table less and less. Of course, it doesn't have a footrest, but it's become more difficult to dangle them. If necessary, she can sit on a chair herself. As soon as the daughter grows up, we will remove the booster or pass it on by inheritance, but for now we are happy to use it.
