Feeding a sick child

Publication date: 12/15/2016 08:22

April 22nd, 2016 Olga.

While the child grows up, he will be ill with various diseases more than once. About 80% is accounted for by SARS. Any disease (we are now talking about the flu, SARS) is characterized by poor health of the child - malaise, cough, runny nose, weakness, and maybe intestinal upset. And all this affects the appetite of the child. If a child has caught a cold, mothers always ask themselves the question: how to feed him properly? Proper nutrition of a sick child will help to quickly cope with the disease.

During an illness, the baby always has a poor appetite. There are physiological reasons for this:

  • at elevated temperatures, blood circulation in the stomach slows down. because the body sends blood to vital organs: the heart and lungs. The process of digestion and assimilation of food slows down and the child needs less food than usual;
  • during an illness, the liver actively fights toxins, the products of the vital activity of viruses and the decay of damaged cells, so a large amount of food carries an additional burden;
  • the toxins themselves poison the body and the child, when he feels bad, not at all before eating;
  • blocked nose, sore throat, difficult to swallow.

  • Nutrition should be appropriate for the child's age;
  • during illness, do not introduce new foods into the diet;
  • food should be sparing - liquid or semi-liquid;
  • make small meals if the baby does not want to eat, and the number of feedings can be increased;
  • if the child refuses to eat, let him drink more fluids (water, compote, fruit drink, rosehip broth).

From the diet during illness should be excluded:

  1. Hard-to-digest foods - fatty meat, whole grain cereals, fresh vegetables and fruits.
  2. Foods harmful to the liver - fatty dairy products, chocolate, vegetable oil, lard, confectionery.
  3. Rough, which can damage the mucous membrane - nuts, seeds, crackers, cookies.

Useful menu

During an illness, a child needs food that is well absorbed by a weakened body. Therefore, chicken broth, vegetable soups, stewed and boiled vegetables are perfect for feeding a child during SARS.

To avoid mechanical irritation of the stomach, choose foods that are low in fiber. What foods are low in fiber? These are potatoes, cauliflower, pumpkin, rice and semolina, animal products.

Potatoes are especially delicate in fiber, so include mashed potatoes in your menu more often. You can cook mashed potatoes with sausage, cheese. Beautifully decorate the dish.

Animal protein must be present in the diet of a sick child, since it is a building material for protective antibodies. They are rich in lean meat - veal, beef, lean pork. For soups, use secondary broths from turkey meat, rabbit, chicken breast.

What else can you feed a child during illness? Yogurt helps out well, especially homemade, with the addition of berries.

Cook porridge for the child: semolina, oatmeal, you can also add berries from jam or defrosted.

A sick child needs vitamins. You can make vitamin drinks from rose hips, berries, cook jelly, dried fruit compote, berry juice. . Such drinks will alleviate the condition of the baby if the throat hurts. But with indigestion, milk should not be given at all.

To increase the appetite of the dish, it is desirable to arrange it beautifully so that the child immediately has a desire to eat it.

Nutrition for a convalescent child

After an acute period of illness, a period of convalescence begins, when the baby is on the mend and nutrition during this period plays an important role. The food of a recovering baby should be rich in energy in order to restore strength, contain minerals and vitamins, the food should be well absorbed.

As soon as the symptoms of the disease subside, do not rush to pounce on a child with enhanced nutrition, it will take a few more days to restore digestion. Continue to follow the diet, adding lean meat and fish, cheese, eggs, boiled vegetables and fruits to it.

Ideal for casseroles, puddings, steamed cutlets, vegetable soups. Introduce fruits and vegetables into the diet and do not forget about sour-milk products that will help restore the disturbed intestinal microflora. Let during this period the food be fractional, the child eat a little. And when the body gets stronger, the child will return to a normal diet.

Choosing tactics

When feeding a sick child, parents must remember that it is impossible to force-feed a child!

We provide a diet with easily digestible products. Some parents find it difficult to feed the baby during illness, he categorically refuses to eat. Psychologists advise not to turn feeding into a circus with musical numbers so that the child eats "well, at least one spoonful."

If a child refuses to eat once, it will not bring much harm to health. He will not remain hungry, but will ask for something anyway when his appetite wakes up.

And don't scold the baby if he doesn't want to eat. Appetite will be restored.

Dolls and dolls. How to play with a child with dolls: advice to parents

We all often see how, imitating a mother or grandmother, a baby cradles a doll, puts it on a potty.

Contents:

  • Cooking toys
  • Where to start?
  • Doll for a boy?
  • Choosing a story
  • "It's time to eat"
  • "Bayushki-bayu"
  • "We're going for a walk"
  • “The doll is sick”

We all often observe how, imitating a mother or grandmother, a baby cradles the doll and puts it on the potty. Such games, which are called story games, can be a great way to develop a child. And the task of adults is to help the baby in mastering the science of play.

In story games, the kid, as a rule, reflects in the game the episodes of his own life related to the care of his relatives. He transfers real everyday actions to toy characters (feeding, combing, bathing, treating dolls), which personify the child himself.

Often adults do not attach much importance to such games of children. They want to teach them something “serious”: distinguish colors, shapes of objects, name letters and numbers, and sometimes read and count. Parents buy constructors, didactic games, alphabet books for their kids, but it is less and less common to see dolls in the children's corner. At best, you can find a large elegant beauty in it, which, as a rule, serves more as a decoration for a child's room than a toy with which the baby plays.

Meanwhile, the story game has a huge impact on the mental development of the child. At an early age, the baby cannot really participate in the affairs of adults, but, imitating them in games with dolls, he better understands the meaning of adults' actions, learns to understand the feelings and states of other people, empathize with them, take care of them (after all, a doll is the personification of a person). This contributes to the social and personal development of the child.

Playing with plot toys also creates the most favorable conditions for the intellectual development of the baby - figurative thinking, imagination. It lays the foundations of creativity. At the same time, this is an easy and joyful activity for the child, giving him pleasure and maintaining a good mood. In the game - the most natural and understandable activity for the baby - he can be taught a lot and much more successfully than in formal training sessions, the meaning of which is often incomprehensible to the baby.

It has long been proven in psychology that a game does not arise by itself. Previously, a small child acquired play experience from older children - sisters, brothers or in groups of different ages playing in the yard. Nowadays, it is rare to meet families with many children, and the culture of joint story games on playgrounds is increasingly being lost. Therefore, the main role in the development of the game belongs to adults. But more and more often one has to face a situation where young parents helplessly admit that they do not know how to play with a baby. Therefore, we offer some game plots that you can play with a child of 1-3 years old.

Cooking toys

First of all, you need to take care of toys for story games. It is desirable that in the children's corner there are various dolls, large and small. Large elegant dolls are convenient to comb, change clothes, feed. It is more convenient to swaddle, bathe, and carry small naked dolls. The game of the kid will become more interesting if he has dolls representing different professions (doctor, policeman, cook, clown, racer, soldiers, etc.).

In addition to dolls, a child should have a variety of toy animals. They also take on the roles of characters in story games.

To act out various plots, it is desirable to have the following toys: doll furniture, sets of dishes for cooking and feeding, a stroller, sets of toys for bathing dolls, treating them, toys for playing in a store, a hairdresser, cars of various sizes and purposes (ambulance help, truck, fire, plane). To build buildings, the kid must have building kits.

Special attention should be paid to the so-called replacement items. These are items without a specific function that can replace missing toys. For example, a cube can be used instead of bread, tiles or soap, a wooden or plastic ball - instead of an apple or candy, a stick - instead of a spoon or a thermometer, etc. The use of substitute items greatly expands the possibilities of the game, contributes to the development of imagination. Such items (several multi-colored cubes, sticks, coils, mosaic pieces, etc.) are best stored in a special box and used during the game. At the same time, it must be remembered that the baby can take small objects (beads, buttons, mosaic details) into his mouth and accidentally swallow, therefore, you need to play with such objects only together with the child, and at the end of the game, put them in a place inaccessible to the baby.

Where to start?

You can start playing with your baby at the end of the first year of life. The first game actions should be quite simple and understandable to the child. If you show him how to put a spoon to the doll's mouth, comb it, or walk its legs on the floor, he will surely repeat your action willingly. At first, he will only play with the doll that you played with. Invite the child to transfer play actions to different toys (for example, feed different dolls, a bear, a dog). Over time, the baby's interest in the game will increase, it will become longer and more meaningful.

A very important rule: do not turn the game into a learning activity. Try to play enthusiastically yourself, do not dictate to the child what to do, but involve him in the game using indirect methods: address him on behalf of the doll, answer for her, ask her questions, invite the baby to join the game, distribute actions with him. For example, put a doll on a chair and turn to her: "Lyalya, it's time to eat. Here's a plate, here's a spoon. Let me feed you some porridge." Feed the doll and talk to her the same way you talk to your son or daughter. At the same time, ask the baby to help feed the doll. For example, say: “Mishenka, let's feed Lyalya together? I'll give her some porridge, and you give her tea from this cup." Gradually introduce new characters and objects into the game (for example, say: “Look, the kitty is sitting sad, she wants to eat too. Let's give her some milk on a saucer?”). Remember that a story game involves interaction between characters. Bring the dolls and animals to life together with the child: come up with names for them, try to involve the child in a conversation with the dolls. If he still doesn’t know how to speak, it doesn’t matter - you yourself can address the doll on his behalf: “Lalya, Sashenka is calling you for a walk, let’s go for a walk?” Over time, the baby will begin to repeat your words, pronounce his own.

Gradually expand the range of situations that can be displayed in the game. At this age, the child often "gets stuck" on the same actions, for example, he can brush or feed the doll endlessly day after day. Your task is to try to diversify it without interrupting the game. If you see that the baby’s play is limited to just feeding the doll, ask him: “Maybe it’s time for the doll to sleep? Where is her bed? Thus, you will push the child to new play activities.

When playing with your child, try to direct the game in such a way that it reflects the sequence of real events in the child's life. Young children do not yet know how to plan their activities. Their actions are situational and are motivated by the objects that catch their eye: he saw a comb - he combed the doll, he saw an iron - he begins to iron everything that is on the table. Before starting the game, agree with the child on how you will play. For example: “Nastenka, it seems to me that Lyalya wants to sleep. Let's bathe her in a bath, then dry her with a towel, then comb her hair, and then put her in a crib." If the kid agrees to play this way, help him stick to the sequence of actions that we agreed on. But at the same time, do not insist that the child must follow your instructions.

During early childhood, the child is prepared to take on roles in play. Initially, imitating the actions of an adult, he does not realize himself as playing a certain role, does not call himself or the doll by the name of the character, although he actually acts as a mother, a doctor or a driver. This game is called "role in action". However, by the end of an early age, with the help of adults, the baby can already consciously give himself and his partner a particular role, call himself mom, dad, aunt, and the doll - daughter or son. There are many ways to help your child with this. For example, with the help of comments: “This is how you, Lenochka, rock Lyalya well, like a mother. You are a mother, and the doll is a daughter" or turn to a son who collects cubes: "Maxim, you are our builder, you are building a house."

Another technique is for adults to take on roles and name the character's role. For example, you say: "I'm a mother, and this is my son" or "I'm a doctor, and this is sick" - and turn to the doll: "Son, it's time to swim" or "Sick, you need to get an injection." The child himself can become the character of such games. In this case, you call yourself "mother", and the child - "daughter" or "son". Subsequently, roles can be reversed. At the same time, it is important to perform not only the corresponding roles of the action, but also comment on them, invent dialogues, and also intotone the speech of the characters, for example, strictly address the doll on behalf of the doctor, whine or act up like a small child.

A doll for a boy?

Some parents believe that only girls should buy dolls, while boys are only interested in cars, blocks and construction sets. It is not right. In the plot game, which is of such great importance for the intellectual and social development of the baby, relationships between people are reproduced, first of all, and it is these dolls that personify. Therefore, they should be an indispensable attribute of games. And the reluctance of boys to play with dolls is most often explained by the fact that parents do not even try to organize such games with them. Observations show that boys, with whom adults play different plots with the participation of dolls, play with them no less willingly than girls.

Choosing a plot

And now we offer several plots of games with dolls (or any other characters) that can be played with children in the second or third year of life, as well as options for game actions and their sequence. In these plots, there is no detailed description of each game, since its detailed presentation may prompt an adult to formally reproduce the text. When involving a child in a game, try to show your own imagination and invention, flexibly vary your play behavior depending on the behavior of the baby, take into account his interests and desires, and ability to play. Of course, the above examples do not exhaust all the possibilities of story games. They can be prompted by the very life of a small child, books read to him, favorite cartoons.

"It's time to eat"

Set the table, arrange cutlery. Boil soup, porridge (by stirring with a spoon in an empty saucepan or putting dummy vegetables or substitute items in it), feed the dolls from a spoon or a stick. Instead of a tile, you can use any flat object. Boil an egg (ball), break it with a spoon (stick), feed the doll. Bake pies (they can be molded from plasticine, replaced with balls or figures cut out of colored paper), treat the dolls. Boil milk, give the dolls a drink, offer them cookies, sweets (use plastic parts of a designer or mosaic, a candy wrapper, a ball). Treat the dolls with fruits, vegetables (can be drawn and cut out of paper: for example, a green oval is a cucumber, an orange one is a carrot, a red circle is an apple or a tomato, a green striped circle is a watermelon). Wash the dishes (with a piece of sponge or palm), wipe it with a napkin.

Game actions can be performed without the use of objects, with the help of fingers, palms, gestures (for example, “take” an imaginary candy or nut with your fingers, stretch out an empty palm to the doll and offer it an apple).

"Bayushki-bayu"

Swaddle the doll. Stroke, hug her, lull her in your arms. Put in a crib, cover with a blanket, rock the crib. Sing a lullaby or read a rhyme, for example, this:

Here's a soft featherbed under your back
.
On top of the duvet cover
A clean sheet.
Here are some pillows for you.
White pillows.
Down duvet
And a handkerchief on top.

“I must, I must wash my face...” Bathe the doll in a bath (instead of soap and sponge, use a cube or a piece of foam rubber). Wash the doll's head with shampoo (from a plastic jar), wipe with a napkin. Comb the doll (comb, wand), let her look in the mirror. Wash her out of the basin. Brush her teeth (you can use a stick). After sleep, you can put the doll on a pot (it can be made from a plastic jar). Bathing can be accompanied by short rhymes, such as:

Water, water,
Wash my face,
To make my eyes shine,
To make my cheeks blush,
To make my mouth laugh,
To make my teeth bite.
Who is good with us?
Who's pretty?
Katenka is good!
Katya is handsome!

"We're going for a walk"

Prepare for a walk (swaddling or dressing the doll). Rock the doll in your arms or in a stroller. Ride the doll in the stroller. Another time, you can ride the doll down the hill in a car. The doll can be carried on hands. If the child is already using active speech, invite him to tell the doll what he can see.

A large doll can simply be walked along the floor, and a small one – along the table, saying: “Top, stomp, baby is stomping” or “Little feet are walking along the path. Top-top-top." You can play with two dolls that meet during a walk, hugging, talking to each other.

“The doll is sick”

Complain on behalf of the doll, ask about what hurts her, take pity on her. Take the doll by car to the hospital or call the doctor. Listen to the heart (tube, ear). Measure the temperature (with a toy thermometer, stick). Give an injection (with a toy syringe, wand). Give a pill (a bead, a button, a pea will do for this purpose). Place mustard plasters (using a piece of paper, a piece of cloth) or jars (small bottle caps). Treat the doll's throat (lubricate with a stick with "ointment"). Treat the ear (drop the medicine with a pipette or stick). Make a bandage with a piece of bandage. Give the doll vitamins (peas or small pieces of paper). Give her hot tea with honey, put her to bed, calm the doll, sing her a song.

It is not necessary to perform all the listed actions during one game. They can be varied in the course of subsequent games.

"In the store"

Arrange vegetables, fruits (models, substitute items) on the table (counter). Take on or offer your child the role of a salesperson. Ask the seller what products are in the store. Select the products you need and add them to your shopping cart. Pay the seller money (pieces of paper, flat parts from mosaics). Take the basket home, lay out the products on the table. Wash vegetables and fruits. Offer the dolls a choice of carrot, apple, banana, etc. At the end of this game, you can invite the child to invite guests (family members or dolls) and treat them to products bought in the store.

Household chores

Wash the dolls' clothes, a blanket, a sheet (a piece of cloth, a napkin, a handkerchief) in the basin. Iron the laundry (with a toy iron or a cube). Put the laundry in a locker, in a chest of drawers (in a box).

"In the barbershop"

Sit the doll on the chair, tie the apron. Wash the doll's head (use a shampoo bottle, cube). Dry your hair with a hairdryer (you can drive a cube over your head and buzz). Comb the doll (comb, wand). Pin a hairpin, bow or tie a ponytail. Invite the doll to look in the mirror (you can in the lid of the jar), ask if she liked the hairstyle. Thank the child on her behalf.

Circus

Have your child take the puppets to the circus. Sit them on the sofa. Arrange a circus "arena" on the rug in front of the sofa, place "artists" on it. They can be soft and clockwork toys (for example, a somersaulting monkey, a dancing Thumbelina, a jumping frog), as well as folk toys that are set in motion by ropes with sticks and imitate the actions of adults (for example, a bear is chopping wood, a hare is playing a drum).

Announce: “Artists will be performing in front of you now. The monkey will come first. Look how she can roll." Then wind up the monkey and show him somersaults. “And now the bear is performing. He knows how to cut wood." A cockerel can sing and flap its wings, a hare can beat a drum, etc. In this game, you can use masks or half masks of different animals, mitten dolls, etc.
