Perfect baby shower gift!
Reviewed June 26, 2020
I love the Minchin fresh baby food system as a gift for new parents! I received it myself and have gifted it a few times because it really contains everything you need. The cubes are the perfect size for freezing your fresh baby food into usable portions. It's also alot of fun one of the great things about your baby getting to the solid food stage is experimenting with different baby foods and seeing their reactions and this kit really makes that a fun experience.

Show more reviewsWhat to feed a munchkin? Feeding and feeding habits of the Munchkin
The Munchkin is a rare and specific cat breed. Each pet owner should choose the food of their choice.
Some people have enough time to prepare food for their pet, while others do not have it and are used to buying different types of food. It is important to choose the right diet for your cat, which depends on the age, physical condition of the animal.
Contents
- Munchkin food
- Is it possible to feed Munchkin kittens with a mixed diet
- Should I often feed Munchkins
Munchkin food
The best food for this breed and not only will be super and premium class food. There are practically no "left" additives in them. Super premium food usually contains only natural products.
They contain a large amount of natural meat, they contain almost no cereals. It is better to refuse cheap food, as the cat's body is very sensitive.
Due to cheap feed, the animal may have an intestinal disorder, as well as other side diseases. When choosing food for a munchkin, you should definitely familiarize yourself with its composition.
Preservatives - something you should forget about. This also includes flavors, as well as a variety of additives of artificial origin to give a specific flavor.
Not too sweet, sour-milk products should be included in the Munchkin's cat diet/Yandex CollectionsLittle milk can be given to babies, but in older cats it can provoke diarrhea.
Natural foods useful for the Munchkin include low-fat meat, fish like trout, herring and salmon. You can also give cereals, vegetables, egg yolk, liver.
Before you treat your pet, fish and vegetables should be boiled, adding them to the porridge. Such cats do not digest plant foods well. It is worth adding vitamins and minerals to the usual food that you give this breed from the table.
Can munchkin kittens be mixed fed
Mixed nutrition is also beneficial for small kittens of this breed. Especially if the cat eats dry food. You can mix food if the cat does not have any diseases.
You can combine several types of good food, for example, in the morning you give the kitten one premium food, and in the evening you pour another into the bowl.
When it comes to drinking, the Munchkin should always have a bowl of water nearby. Before changing the water, the plate must always be rinsed.
The plate must be sized to fit the munchkin so that he can easily eat and drink from it. Be sure to track the kitten's stool. It should not be too soft, as this indicates a number of certain diseases.
If soft stools are found in a cat, reduce the amount of food by diluting the diet with more homemade food until the stool is restored.
Is it worth feeding the Munchkin often
The feeding ration will depend on the number of years of the animal. Adults should be fed two to four times a day.
Kittens up to five months old should be fed five times a day. Cats that are one year old should be fed three to four times a day.
The diet of the munchkin depends on the age of the animal/Yandex CollectionsBefore you start a Munchkin, you should clean your apartment or house. Be sure to get rid of cutting and piercing objects. Remove poisonous flower plantings, wires, household chemicals from the house.
A bed for such a cat needs to be organized in a certain way. It should be located in a corner, away from passages and doors, heating appliances and drafts.
Food and water bowls must be accessible. It is advisable not to rearrange them, as the cat gets used to eating in the same place. It is best that the munchkin is on natural products.
This will protect him from various diseases associated with disruption of the digestive system. This breed is not overly picky, which is why Munchkins rarely refuse food altogether. If this happens, it indicates some kind of cat disease.

"Dachshunds" among cats - Munchkins - charming fluffy pets that touch with their feature - short legs. They got their name in honor of the fairy-tale characters from the novel "The Wizard of Oz" - Munchkins. They were small in stature and cheerful in nature.
In the article we will talk about how to care for the Munchkin and what features this breed has.
Breed history
The first mention of short-legged cats appeared at the end of the 19th century, but their history began much later - in 1983. Music teacher Sandra Hochenedel picked up a pregnant short-legged cat from the street and named her Blackberry. Blackberry gave birth to kittens, which became the first official representatives of the breed.
The Munchkins were presented to the public at 19'91 at a cat show, but they were not well received. Because of their short legs, they were considered weak and sick. However, later studies showed that this mutation is completely natural and does not pose any health problems for the animal.
In 1995, the breed was officially recognized by the International Cat Association. Now it is very popular and there are a huge number of munchkin lovers in the world.
In 2001, she was brought to Russia and here she had no less number of fans.
Description
Munchkins differ from other cats in their short legs, which touches their pet parents, but there are different types among the breed:
- dwarf;
- ultra short legged;
- standard.
All cats of this breed have an elongated but muscular body. That is why they are also called "dachshund cats". The head is broad, widening towards the chin. The ears are small and rounded towards the tips. The eyes are almond shaped and very expressive. Color - from green to blue.
Most often these are white cats, but they can also be multi-colored. The rarest are chocolate-colored and marbled. Their tail is thickened and always carried up. The legs are short but strong. The front legs may be shorter than the hind legs.
There are both long-haired and short-haired Munchkins. Their fur coat is shiny, velvety, with a little undercoat.
Character
Another plus of this breed, in addition to a cute appearance, is a soft, flexible character. Munchkins love to play or lie on their pet parent's lap, delighting him with their purrs. They get along well with both children and other animals, showing great patience with the former.
They calmly stay at home alone and will not carry things and destroy the apartment in retaliation for leaving them behind. However, their short legs are not at all an obstacle to exploring everything around. They deftly jump on shelves, tables and chairs, and shiny objects will definitely attract their attention, and they will want to play with them.
Munchkins love to travel and are not afraid of unfamiliar places or people. They will be happy to walk with you on the street at harness or ride in a car without trying to escape.
This breed is ideal for families with children, as Munchkins are very sociable, affectionate and playful.
Of the few disadvantages of this breed, one can only cite extreme curiosity. Munchkin will regularly examine the entire apartment and stick his cute nose wherever he can. Therefore, watch his movements, and carefully close cabinets or chests of drawers. Especially if there are bright objects.
What you need to care for the Munchkin
These cute kitties are unpretentious in maintenance, but they need to be cared for, cared for and loved no less than all other pets.
You will need:
Ammunition for cats
Since the Munchkins will be happy to walk with you in the fresh air, you will need Pet Ammunition . After all, they are inquisitive and can easily go to explore unfamiliar territory.
You can purchase comfortable harnesses or collars with leashes, as well as address in case the furry explorer still runs away from you.
Feed
If you take a kitten from a breeder, then immediately specify what kind of food was given to him. You can stay on it or change to another in case of development of food intolerance or allergies.
It is best to feed the Munchkin with premium, super premium or holistic food grades, as they contain a high percentage of meat and meat ingredients, as well as many fresh fruits and vegetables.
bowls
Because of their short legs, the Munchkin can be uncomfortable eating from bowls with high rims. It is better to buy low bowls, and put them on special mat . So, you do not have to collect scattered feed on the floor, and it remains to shake it off the mat.
Tray with media
Don't forget about the cute feature of your pet: choose trays with not too high sides to make it easier for him to get inside.
As for the litter , it all depends on your pet's preferences: someone prefers silica gel , and someone wood . Try different ones to see which one works best.
Do not forget to put mat under tray so that your furry friend does not spread filler all over the apartment.
Munchkins are sensitive to strong chemical odors, so choose your litter tray cleaners with this in mind.
Toys
Munchkins are naturally very playful and outgoing cats. They can even be taught a few simple commands: fetch items, for example. They like to communicate with people and will willingly take part in different games.
Therefore, be sure to purchase different toy sets for them to have fun with the cat.
Grooming tools
Because of their body structure, Munchkins have a harder time grooming themselves, which means they need more help from their pet parents in grooming . Even short-haired representatives of the breed require it from time to time.
Brush the cat regularly with the soft bristle brush . For washing use shampoos according to the length of the Munchkin coat. It is recommended to wash it once every 3-4 months, and then dry their fur thoroughly.
The condition of the animal's coat depends, among other things, on its health. Therefore, do not forget about regular visits to the veterinarian.
Scratching post
Like all cats, the munchkin also likes to sharpen its claws, and if he does not do this on your wallpaper or furniture, then buy scratching post 9 in advance0064 . To accustom him to it, you can sprinkle a little mint.
Munchkins also like to lie on a hill, so you can immediately think about purchasing a play complex with a sunbed and hammocks .
Carry
To make it more convenient for your pet to travel with you, be sure to purchase the convenient carrier for him. B Rurri has a wide range of carry bags, backpacks that your furry traveler will definitely like!
Eye Lotions and Ear Lotions
Like all cats, Munchkins need regular cleaning of their ears and eyes. Be sure to check them for pus, dirt, and parasites. If they appear, contact your veterinarian immediately.
External and internal pest control
Do not forget about regular treatments for parasites - worms, ticks, etc. You can choose Funds , suitable for your cat in the form - Drops on the walker , tablets , Sprays , Shampuni and pr.
Education and training
These are very smart cats, so they can be easily and quickly accustomed to tray and harness .
You can train a Munchkin to stand up on its hind legs and keep its front legs forward on its chest. This is easy to do by motivating him with a treat . The cat is able to perform more complex tricks, demonstrating them in public with pleasure.
Play outdoor games with the kitten and slowly teach him all the commands. Then an adult cat will easily be able to do what is required of him.
Health
Munchkins naturally have good health and strong immunity. They perfectly tolerate any viral and infectious diseases.
They also have no problems with joints, heart and musculoskeletal system, just like ordinary cats. Their feature does not have a significant impact on development.
They also have a complete order with digestion. Even when switching to a different diet, they are less sensitive than other breeds.
The only thing you need to keep a close eye on is their physical activity. With its deficiency, Munchkins quickly develop obesity, the protein-mineral balance is disturbed, and salt deposition begins.
Of the genetic diseases, the Munchkin can inherit lordosis. This is a stretch in the chest. Therefore, carefully ask the breeder about kittens before taking them. Go to the nursery and look at the future pet to understand that he is really healthy and does not have any genetic abnormalities.
With proper maintenance and care, Munchkins can live from 15 to 20 years.
Munchkin breeding
Mating two non-standard munchkins is not prohibited, but you should keep in mind that even if both parents have short legs, this is not a guarantee that they will have the same kittens.
You can also mate a short-legged and long-legged munchkin. From such a union, quite real munchkins with that cute feature for which everyone loves them so much can appear.
Important! In order to find a suitable partner for your pet and get healthy offspring, it is better to seek advice from a specialist or from the nursery where you took your furry friend.
How to choose a Munchkin kitten
It all depends on your goals: whether you want to take part in exhibitions or just get a pet.
Of course, in both cases, it is better to start the search with visiting cat shows in order to get acquainted with representatives of the breed and learn more about catteries. Next, contact breeders and visit nurseries to find the kitten you need.
The cost of a Munchkin kitten varies greatly depending on the length of the legs and the possession of the right to breed. Long-legged munchkins are very cheap, but short-legged ones are more expensive. Show class kittens are the most expensive, as they can be bred, as well as participate in exhibitions with them.
