Make Homemade Baby Food with the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend (Review) – Peace Love Organic Mom

As many of you know, I prefer making my little one’s baby food at home rather than buying pre-made food. There are so many benefits to making homemade baby food for your child. I have chosen to prepare D’s baby food so I can be confident in the source and exact ingredients in her food as well as to save money. I recently had the opportunity to review the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend and it has quickly become a go-to item in my kitchen. The Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend has so many capabilities beyond simply making purees and is the only appliance needed to create nutritious food for baby without difficulty.

Key Features

Dual Action Function
The Cook n-Blend has a dual action function, meaning it both steams and blends food into purees. For a small kitchen appliance, the fact that it contains both a food processor and a steamer is a huge plus! You can be assured your little one is getting all necessary vitamins/minerals since steaming better preserves these nutrients. To get started, just pour water into reservoir,  place chopped fruits and vegetables in steaming basket, press steam button, and wait the specified time for fruits/vegetables to be complete! There is even a helpful chart in the instruction manual that gives water amount and steaming time guidelines for common fruits/vegetables. When steaming is complete, it will automatically stop and  beep to alert you. Everything can then be poured directly into the blender for puree. It does not get much easier than that!

Makes up to Four Meals (32 oz Bowl)
Many parents want to make their baby’s food in bulk and freeze for later use. The Cook-n-Blend makes it easy to make large quantities of food with it’s large 32 oz bowl.

Double Steamer Basket
This feature is perfect for separating various fruits or vegetables so flavors are preserved during the steaming process.

Two Texture Options
The Cook-n-Blend has two texture options (smooth or chunky). This makes the Cook-n-Blend a worthwhile purchase, since it will grow with your child’s preferences.

Dishwasher Safe
Not only is the Cook-n-Blend dishwasher safe but it is also super easy to clean since it is only composed of a few basic parts.

Smoothie Blade
This is one of my favorite features since I can even make myself a little treat!

Recipe Book
Each Cook-n-Blend comes equipped with a special recipe booklet containing several ideas for wholesome meals.

Find below an example of a recipe using the Cook-n-Blend:

Apple and Pear Puree
1 large eating apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
1 large ripe pear, peeled, cored, and chopped
Place the chopped fruits into the Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker steam basket. Place the basket into the cooking bowl and tightly twist the lid closed. Place the cooking bowl on the base and lock into place. Unscrew the water reservoir knob at the top of the unit and fill with water to level 3. Tightly replace the knob. Press the on/off button to start cooking. The green light will come on and it will cook for about 17 minutes. Remove the basket and keep the cooking liquid. Place the steamed fruit from the basket directly into the cooking bowl and add 2 tablespoons of the cooking liquid. To puree, turn the blender button to the desired speed depending on the texture you want.

The NUK Cook-n-Blend truly dissipates any challenge associated with making homemade baby food. It is so simple to use and includes everything needed to start making your baby fresh and nutritious food. They even have a variety of compatible accessories for storing baby’s food. The NUK Cook-n-Blend normally retails for $99.99 but for a limited time you can receive $20 off! NUK is also offering $1 off any accessory purchase! Just head over here to save now.

Homemade Baby Food with Nuk Freshfoods™ Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker

Thank you to NUK® Freshfoods™ for letting me try out this amazing product. You can also find them on Facebook! I would also like to thank Moms Meet for reaching out about this opportunity.

I don't know if I have mentioned my child's occasionally finicky eating habits. One moment she is eating raw broccoli and the next all she wants is cheese.

Well one can not live on cheese alone!

So I had to be creative with some of my SweetPea's favorite foods so I could still get her to eat fruits and veggies without her knowing it. I also like to know exactly what she is eating and making your own baby food is cheaper than buying for store bought products that are loaded with preservatives. That is why I am so excited to share this review of the NUK® Freshfoods™ Cook-n-Blend Baby food Maker.

And thanks to the NUK® Freshfoods™ Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker, making purées has never been easier. Easy to assemble, the NUK Freshfoods™ Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker steams the veggies and has two separate compartments to easily prepare multiple vegetables for yummy recipes.

Here is the recipe I used:
Potato, Carrot, and Sweet Corn
7 oz of water
1 medium carrot, peeled and sliced (1/2 cup)
1 small sweet potato, peeled and chopped (1 cup)
1 potato, peeled and chopped (1 1/3 cups)
1 tbsp butter (a generous knob of butter)
1 small leek, trimmed and sliced
1/2 cup canned sweet corn
1/4 cup grated Cheddar cheese (optional)
Place the carrot, sweet potato and potato in the NUK Freshfoods™ Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker steam basket. Place the basket into the cooking bowl and tightly twist the lid closed. Place the cooking bowl on the base and lock into place. Unscrew the water reservoir knob at the top of the unit and fill with water to level 3. Tightly replace the knob. Press the on/off button to start cooking. The green light will come on and it will cook for approximately 17 minutes. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan and sauté the leek for about 5 minutes over a low heat until softened. Remove the basket and reserve the cooking liquid.Place the steamed vegetables directly into the cooking bowl. Add the sautéed leek, the sweet corn, the grated cheese (optional), and add 1.5 oz of the cooking liquid. To puree, turn the blender button to the desired speed depending on the texture you want.

We are looking for the best children's recipe in February: we present the fourth consolation prize! - Child

Recipe contests are one of the most demanded on the Mother's Club portal. But often we exchange ideas for preparing dishes for adults. And today, with the support of NUK, we are announcing the start of a long-term project dedicated to children's recipes. Join now!

The project is a multi-stage competition, which will be divided into months. One month = one topic. The stages are not related to each other, so You can join at any time.

The task of the project participant:

- stick to a certain topic;

- send a prescription (1, 2 or more, no restrictions) to www. within the prescribed period;

- fulfill all the stipulated conditions of the project.

Project conditions:

  • You can become a participant of the project and at the same time a contender for the prize by sending only one recipe
  • having learned the task, it is necessary to come up with a recipe by the end of this month, purchase all the ingredients necessary for it and cook what was planned
  • the process of cooking is desirable to photograph step by step, then upload photos with descriptions to a blog or photoblog (heading "Child", tags "Nutrition: - children's - recipes ", indicate the name and, if possible, the exact proportions of the ingredients
  • it is important to add to each recipe the age at which the prepared dish can be introduced into the children's diet
  • indicate the cooking time of the dish
  • desirable so that the blog contains not only photos of the dish itself, but also the child for whom it was prepared.

What if the task involves cooking something that the child does not eat? Execute it. After all, you can then eat it yourself)

Evaluation criteria:

- how "childish" the recipe is;

- registration and submission.

Recipes will also be published on the Mom's Club Facebook page.

Cooking mashed potatoes

What kind of mashed potatoes you want, cook them! It seems to you that everyone knows how to cook vegetables, but not the fact, you show your recipe - your proportions, your method, how not to miss the moment when the water boils. What can be added to them?

We prepare children's recipes. Remember? And children are not only those who are a month, two, six, a year, three ... And at four, and at five, and at 12. So, if you have a small child at home, then you can cook something "for growth", so to speak) Then you yourself will eat everything.

Make different purees!

Add different ingredients to them!

Decorate, decorate in such a way that you want to eat with your eyes, because we mothers know that if the child does not like the look, then he will not eat it. Congratulations! The gift can be picked up at the editorial office of the Mom's Club (Vilandes str., 1-9, entrance from Elizabetes street). From February 25 to March 28!

Prizes will be given every week:

- February 7

- February 14

- February 24

- February 28

Puree recipes are accepted until February 28 inclusive. On March 3, we will sum up the results of the month and announce a new topic.

NUK baby products: pacifiers, cups, toothbrushes

Splashes of compote, tea, juice on the walls, puddles of various shapes and diameters from the above drinks on the floor ... And among all this splendor, a contented and happy child, who 2 minutes before with a cry “ I myself (a) "dragged a cup to quench my thirst. Satisfied. At the same time, he bathed the cat who did not have time to hide in time, washed his face, splashed it all over the route of his movement (it’s not interesting to drink, standing in one place!).

Do you know? Yes, for me.

At the age of 1.5-2 years, almost all children already have personal dishes, which also include a cup / glass for drinks .

If it is ordinary, without a cap or a special valve to avoid spilling liquid, then the situation I described is not so rare. Sometimes the baby fails to drink properly, and then the drink runs anywhere but into the mouth. And sometimes children's curiosity wakes up, and then the contents of the cup are sprayed / spilled for experimental purposes.

My favorite tomboys had different cups - and non-spill cups with a lid equipped with a valve inside (the lid was perfectly opened by children, the valve was removed and the drink ran just as beautifully through the spout on the table as from a regular cup), and ordinary ones, but children's series.

Then came the time for cups and bottles with a straw (for some reason, my children are not indifferent to straws, we even demand them for tea and milk and enjoy the drink like a cocktail).

Among the latest purchases - cup with a soft tube (for Anya) and cup with a non-leaking push-pull spout (for Artem) from from NUK .

I am generally very picky when it comes to nutrition, hygiene of children, and the products of the children's category that I buy are checked and rechecked.
