Doypacks are becoming increasingly common in the food market

Food packaging has changed with every passing decade. Sometimes this is due to trends, sometimes due to practicality, but there are always reasons for such changes. One of the recent changes in food packaging has been the increasing use of doypacks or pouches. The progressive world of futuristic, industrial and concentrated nutrition is finally becoming a reality, only without space travel and hovercraft.

About 50 years ago, when everyone was crazy about NASA, moon exploration, astronauts and atomic destruction, people began to develop food that could last as long as earthly life. Instant puddings, dehydrated drinks, processed cheese products, and "television dinners" (in a hurry) began to appear on the market. The term "food product" has entered the traditional marketing lexicon. Today, we are trying to move away from the chemical-laden and artificially-added foods that were created back then. We prefer organic products sourced from local producers. Even despite the fact that many of us have never even been close to a real farm or farm.

So how can people living in crowded, energy-drained cities have fresh, environmentally friendly, organic food on the table? Packing them in easy-to-transport stable bags - that's how. We don't want food to be futuristic anymore, but we want the packaging to be. This is where food packaging designers come to the rescue.

Catering doypacks

Kraft recently began packaging its salad dressings in large, flexible, resilient bags instead of containers, which will reduce the amount of packaging material used by 100 million pounds by 2015. Large glass and plastic jars, which were previously used for transportation, led to the release of a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This is due to the small number of items that can be transported in one truck, as well as return trips with empty shipping containers.

Doypacks, on the other hand, are fashionable to dispose of more easily. After all, they can be folded and get a small volume. Unfortunately, they are not currently accepted for recycling in many regions, but this may change as the production of sustainable bags continues to grow and recycling is only a matter of demand. After all, the huge amount of carpet used during trade shows and gatherings only began to be actively recycled in the mid-2000s, when demand demanded it.

Resilient bags are a natural fit for the food service industry as restaurants do not rely on food packaging as much as supermarkets do. Indeed, it makes no sense for products that are sold in bulk to have individual packaging.

Doypacks for Consumers

The choice of food doypack for the retail market may not always be obvious for some products as it is a flexible format. For example, drinks in packages do not look as attractive as the same drinks in bottles. Consumers are also shunning breakfast cereals sold in bags, opting for boxes instead, as bags are less convenient to store. But the main reason is that they look cheaper. To promote them, it is necessary to change the perception of consumers.

In the meantime, sustainable pouches are gaining popularity in the baby food market. And there are good reasons for that. Babies can suck the fruit puree out of the sachets themselves, avoiding spoon-feeding. At the same time, the expositional attractiveness of the product is not as important for newborns as it is for older consumers.

There are many ways that unscrupulous food packaging manufacturers and developers can get rid of all the environmental benefits of food packaged in doypacks - they can repackage products, as well as use non-recyclable materials. However, reducing packaging materials should be the goal of any company and designer. In addition to being cheaper for the producer and consumer, it helps to reduce waste.

What did we learn today? We learned that if humanity ever colonizes Mars, it will take hydroponic agricultural technology with them, not thousands of pounds of Tang. We have learned that the foodservice industry is an excellent platform for testing sustainable packages and their potential benefits. We learned that kids don't have much nostalgia for baby food jars. And finally, we learned that when buying cereal in a bag, we need a large sealed container and a spoon.

, usually orange, although purple, red, white, and yellow varieties exist. When fresh, it has a crunchy texture. The most commonly consumed part of the carrot is the taproot, although the greens are sometimes eaten as well. It is a domesticated form of the wild carrot Daucus carota native to Europe and Southwest Asia. The domestic carrot has been selectively bred for its greatly enlarged and more palatable, less woody edible root.
